Hi Guys.
thought i share with you, in the hope I can find some tips.
I have this weird ticking or clicking noise that is exacerbated when the car is cold (even in hot weather)
specially, when I don't drive it for a day or two. The noise appears to come from the front right (drivers side) either at the very front of the dashboard or past the window in the bonnet.

IT does seem to sometimes click or tick when going over bumps and stuff, but I Can't reliably tell that, but definitely when cold.

My mechanic had a look to see if anything was loose, and put it down to something inside the dash.
but i don't agree, why the cold would have any effect on it?

after a 15m it would be back to silent.

can you guys please have a hear, and tell me your thoughts? it's quite alarming for me, although it's been a year+ and haven't broke down "yet"
PS: you need to up the volume, otherwise all you hear is engine/road noise

I have no idea. But wait, you are going to be flooded with brilliant suggestions. 

It does sound like its inside the cab.  Annoying ticking but probably only dangerous if you live in Beirut.

What sort of Ks has this thing got? Sounds like your driving on rail tracks , honestly can't pick it from all that noise.

I'll open the floodgate witha brilliant suggestion,  check sway bar link rods and bushings for wear and aging. I've had clunks and scqeals come from them as they age. if you remove the wheels on both sides, disconnect the link rods both sides you'll be able to rotate the sway bar and check for noise and also rock it up and down and check for excessive clearance.

Actually I changed the link rods on the last service, because it was squeaking as well, and that did the trick for the squeak, but not for the clicking :-(

sorry for the cr4ppy audio, been trying for months to get it just to post here, even strapped an old mic recorder under the bonnet, but the engine noise drowned everything else.

thought about taking it to Hyundai, but honestly not sure they'll know more than my mechanic, or you folks.

PS: the noise becomes apparent from 14s in the recording, then you start hearing some bumps from the road just ignore that (well if you can) it sounds like someone typing on a keyboard

Who fitted the rods? What brand? have you gone back and checked they're secure? anything heard over speed bumps?

you're right, giant guessing game, I guess that's the reason why older cars always have their noises, but I refuse to let mine be one of those

when it comes to rubber components age is equally a factor not just distance. My gut feel is the noise is in line with swaybar movements and you say temp affects it which it does with those bushes. Bushes are cheap enough but access requires the powertrain frame to be lowered from the chassis to get to the bolts

you're right, giant guessing game, I guess that's the reason why older cars always have their noises, but I refuse to let mine be one of those 

There are only so many parts, you just need to replace the right ones

Silent after 15 minutes

 inside the dash?

Question to ask what components are in that area?
Are they exposed to engine heat?
Is cabin temp a factor?
Is it under dash?
Is it under bonnet?

Try to answer the last two questions by removing the panel under the steering column. Then drive with d/s window down.
The area may be more defined.
Listen to compare the click or quiet in a turn.
Move recorder left right etc to find higher volume.
   Listen around power steering unit ( on column)
