Hi guys, I'm Steve. Me and wifey have just purchased the above motor. She is a 2015 1.4 litre and we loved it on road test.

We collect the car next Thursday so will upload some piccies.

The guy at Hyundai said that as part of them selling the car to us they'll service it, valet it and do any recalls that were due.

Out of interest does anyone know what these would be? I read a thread off the net about the headlight bulbs kept blowing due to too high alternator output but can't be sure how accurate this is?

Anyway I look forward to mingling and getting to know you all 😀😀😀

Cheers. Steve.

Is the car petrol or diesel?

The bulb blowing problem - if I recall correctly - only applied to diesels

Welcome Steve,

Yes, as Alan says the headlight issue Seemed mostly confined to the Diesel.

The other recall, that I recall (see what I did there) was the brake light switch. This was a recall for many different Hyundai models. It caused a delay in the brake lights coming on and caused a light on the dash to illuminate sometimes. Quick and easy part replacement if not already done...

Cheers Dazzler. They say they're doing all the recalls so hopefully they will.

Can I also just clarify the oil needed. I've read shell helix ultra 5w30. Is that right?

I think in the petrol you can get away with even a semi synthetic, as per the oil chart in the owner's manual, BUT, I would use a full synthetic and Shell Helix Ultra 5w 30 is one of the more popular used by our members. It is one of the more affordable premium fully synthetics.

I have used Hy for more than half of my cars services and they have always used FULLY synthetic on my car which is, as you know, petrol  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Welcome Steve, these are the two Shell Helix oils suitable for your vehicle, the HX8 is the Hyundai recommended spec mentioned in the manual.

5w-40 Ultra is a step up in quality and price and gives a bit more protection for warmer climates.
