Learner drivers in England, Wales and Scotland will be allowed to have lessons on the motorway by next year, the government has announced.

The Department for Transport (DfT) said lessons would be in a dual-control car with an approved driving instructor.

Missed this news, good move (long overdue IMO). I opted for a few hours of motorway tuition with my driving instructor after passing my test. Then went on to do the IAM course.

I can safely conclude that the IAM training has helped me avoid involvement in other drivers' crashes - the key is observation and anticipation. Mainly looking out for Peugeot drivers and keeping as far away from them as possible
