I wanted to share my experience about buying and installing  extra rubbers for doors, bonnet etc
Something like that

but I have not bought a kit but individualy rubbers p type z type etc. I have links below in my second message.

After installing them I hear for sure  less road noise with a  cost of rubbers that was only 20 pounds. I have tested the car to roads that are harsh and the noise is
reduced significally and I can hear much better the music! Also doors closing noise is better( just need more pressure to close). I can add some photos about the changes I have made this week.

Couldn't seem to find any cheap universal kits on Ebay. The one you linked to Craig only does doors apparently, not boot and bonnet. Says you have to take weather stripping off then reinstall. Is ours removeable?

I just had a look at my doors, the seals are removable - the top around the windows simply pushes into the bead lock though the lower section appears to have plastic push studs so I'm unsure of the attachment process, there are also the seals which attach to the car body side which is a push on seal all the way around so that might be the area they are saying to attach the new seal

The bonnet of most modern cars should already have a rubber seal across the front lip, if not I don't see the bonnet as being an issue with wind noise really anyway as most noise seems to come through the doors.

The other issue with sealing the bonnet is engine heat wont be able to escape which will drastically increase under bonnet temperatures.

if you have a Clark Rubber store over your way they also sell all the different types of seals so could possibly match up and make something similar.

Just checking the Shark Racing photos again and it attaches to the body side seals which are fully removable on mine, you would take them off - push on the new seals and then your original seal is supposed to push back on over the new seal in the original place.

I doubt it, most tyre noise seems to be related to lack of insulation in the wheel wells and the struts are also situated very close to the base of the windscreen which acts like an amphitheatre.

Yes, definitely, but it depends on how evenly you wrap it around the tread.

I have noticed improvement in tyre road noise after installing
z shape rubber in A pillar (in front doors). The noise and air while driving enters also from the opening of A pillar mostly
and with z shape rubber this opening is not open any more. Look at the video in my first message in 3:23 and this is the most important place to put rubber and reduce road noise.

I have used Big D Rubber in bonnet  and back boot outside of the black part of boot of i30 gd
P type rubbers in botτom of all doors and Z shape in pillars and in baψk top of boot

There is a road that I drive often and I couldn't hear at all  music and was so annoying. Was so harsh and so much road noise....
Now the  road noise is half  in my ears and I am so happy with the result. In 10 days I will put my winters tyres that are almost new
and I am sure the car will be also more quiet and for that reason.

I can see the benefit of the extra seals around the doors and hatch though as I previously mentioned there is a reason the bonnets are not sealed and that to allow heat to escape, over time I would expect the higher under bonnet temperatures to have some detrimental affect on electrical components plus it will definitely increase the intake temperatures.

I have that in mind and I will make changes in the bonnet rubbers  if necessary.  Thank you CraigB.

I haven't notice any change now, it's getting colder the weather and so in winter I will not have problem I think.
But I would like your opinion for the extra rubber in bonnet.... including maybe some links with details from net if possible

 I was wondering if there is any car model that  has extra rubbers in bonnets from factory. The air can enter in the bonnet even with he new rubbers while driving.
Previously in bonnet I found dust inside and small objects passing through and the air filter when I changed it a month ago has leaf from trees!.

Dust will get in not matter what you do as most dust would come from underneath off the road surface and through the radiator, the seals also wont stop leaves entering the air box as they obviously enter from the air intake pipe.

Not much you can do about the leaves in the air box, as long as you periodically inspect and clean the box and filter it'll be fine

I wouldn't be taking notice of what the seller is the video is advertising, the Chinese would sell you a new mother if they thought they could

Don't know of any links I've never searched for information to explain what is simple physics really, heat rises and with the seals you've prevented it from escaping = higher under bonnet temperature.

So probably be ok in places like Scandinavia that seldom get hot, but not Greece, which I understand can get quite hot in the summer...

Yes I agree also. Just now the temp here is 6-20C but will get colder next month.


I will remove it  but I  liked it as when I washed the car, no water in engine bay

plus the engine bay stays cleaner generally!

Because my PD has 18" wheels with low profile tyres there is still more noise on some of our course bitumen than I would like.

Update: I tried our three auto accessory shops and none stocked the rubbers but they ended up referring me to rare spares who have a big range (probably 30 different profiles and sizes or more!) BUT they range from around $4 to over $10 per metre, so way dearer than on the net. I think I will go online and take Hati's advice. 

Edit: just ordered 8 metres of D, 3 of P and 4 of Z from premium Ebay services via China for $28 including postage.

I have removed the extra rubbers from bonnet.

I am sure that also this extra rubber
help reduce harsh noise from road as it separates the bonnet from the
bottom part and reduces vibration that enter from bottom part of the car to the bonnet and internal of car so.

Anyway. It's better to have less heat in engine bay anyway
