Hi Folks,

Long story short, I drove about 10 miles today with the handbrake 50% engaged. I eventually saw the warning light on the dash.

BUT... shouldn't there be an audible alarm or bell like the seat belt alarm when you start driving with it engaged?

Yeah that's what alerted me to it eventually. I presume this was on from the moment I left the house but being honest I never noticed it.

I would have thought an audible alarm or beeping would be standard...?

Not sure there is any audible warning. My Ioniq gives me an ever-increasing audible alert when I set off with the footbreak on, but my i30 FD never did.

On  my 2012 i get audible sound as well as red light on dash if hand brake not fully released while in motion

Nope, the driver supposed to scan his/her instruments for warnings such as the handbrake light at roughly the same frequency  as the mirrors get scanned. You Sir missed that lesson in driving school?

Who would like an audible buzzer for their handbrake? The cheapest, simplest version would sound for the time that the handbrake is engaged while the ignition is on. Can you spare 20 cents?

Mine has a sound similar to seatbelt warner when handbrake is engaged while moving, found that out in a esp off handbrake turn.

Too complicated.  Especially when you are distracted by that burning smell and the increasing amount of smoke in the rear view mirror.

Sounds lim6e their is no audible alarm . Or is that, doesn't sound like their is an audible alarm.
Anyhoo, if hand brake was 1 /2 on , it may need adjusting as it's supposed to stop you from moving.
Many years ago, my mates parents bought the first Honda civic.
Handbrake worked well, so did the driveline , you could be at full revs in 2nd and still not move.
His parents put tyre wear down to fwd.    They where right !
