Title: 2021 I30 N draining battery in a few days of not being driven
Post by: FDGazza on February 11, 2023, 09:47:03
Dear All,

As the header says my 2021 I30 N is draining the battery in a few days of not being driven.
With the car turned off , doors .bonnet and hatch closed , the battery at 12V shows a current flow of  1.9 AMP's ( measured with a calibrated multi meter)
I checked things like glove box light and so on but have come up empty handed.

I did the same measurment on my wife's 2012 I30 GD wagon and it shows a current flow of 0.08 AMP's and it has no problems

Has anyone else come across this problem ?

Regards, Gaz

If your car has a light in the boot is the rear hatch closing fully and turning off the boot lamp. (This drained my car battery a few months ago)

Fairy sure we saw an issue reported in the club where the power assisted steering was drawing power constantly. That would match the 1.9A draw you are seeing.

I have to go out now but do have a search around...

See this thread as an example :-

I assume your car is still under warranty - if so - it's a job for the dealership to handle.

So the high parasite " sleeping " current draw was caused by faulty A/C control panel , see my GPS post .
Car is back to normal , all good !
