Hi guys, I have a Hyundai i30 2011. These light's stopped working, I took a picture. Can you please tell me what they're called? So I can purchase the correct ones

Also, I pressed my brake light and the passenger one was not working. However, I asked the person to let go and press it again. After a couple of times that brake light started working again. Of course the other brake light was still working. So could the reason be the light bulb needs replacing? Any help would be great I have MOT coming up soon
Many thanks

Hi Billy,

I am pretty sure your High Beams in that model are H1 type. Unfortunately, usually due to poor headlight earthing the FD diesel has a habit of blowing headlight globes more often than some other cars. Fortunately they are easier to change than some other models/brands.

Check with your closest Hyundai dealer to see if your car has had the brake light switch changed under warranty. If it hasn't it should still be a free repair. That sounds like what your problem is with the brake lights (hopefully)

You're telling me that I can have my brake light switch changed for free, when not under warranty . Also, can I take these bulbs out of my car until Hyundai I want something like them? Or do they still require to know if they are the full beam lights or fog lights etc.. thank you!

Yes, if the brake light switch is causing the issue, which is quite likely, then it is a free warranty fix. Most FD model vehicles would have had it done already, but yours might have been missed or had the wrong version installed under warranty (which happens sometimes as there are several versions depending on weather you have cruise control etc..) They will ask for your Vehicle Identification number (VIN) to check their records.

Yes, you can just tell them you need a pair of H1 Globes. If you buy them from a car accessory place they may be cheaper than from the dealer and they will often fit them for a small additional charge. If it is only a couple of pounds it's probably worth it to save you the trouble.

You can undo three bolts on each light assembly to lift  them clear of the body for easier access to change the globes. There is a how to somewhere on here if you do a search.

If under recall then there is no time limit if the recalled item has not been replaced.

  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

Thanks a lot dazzler. If I ask for H1 globs will that give me a pack like this: :link: SPARE BULB KIT CAR H1 H4 H7 for HYUNDAI SANTA FE | eBay and I guess this pack has every single light that the car needs?
Also I was thinking that if I buy from the dealership the bulbs they will last longer, than the after market one. Am I wrong?

Not really. That pack seems ridiculously cheap for that many globes. Some of the other globes in your FD i30 might be different to the Sante Fe. Normally you just get a pack with a pair of globes like these.

If one stop light is ok and presumably the hatch stop  is too, then the switch is functioning ok. Get a new bulb.

I read it as an intermittent issue with at least one globe.. hence the possibility of BLS?  :undecided:
