  • Sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.
I've often thought how convenient it would be to have the horn sound as the indicators flash when locking or unlocking the i30.

Has anyone tried this modification or have any ideas on how it might be done?

I would find that annoying actually, especially when I'm trying to sneak in.

Crafty old b*#tard, asa. I'm sure the noise you'd make after getting inside would be far worse than the sound of the horn beeping

Just imagine if you lived on a street with lots of cars parked at the curb. Everytime someone locks or unlocks their car, even at 3am. .... "Beep! Beep".

Bloody road runners.  ;)

No way would I want it nor would I want other cars in the street doing it.

Here there are people coming and going during the "sleep" hours and would get really annoyed if I was woken up just so someone could confirm their car was locked....

We have 3 buttons on the key. Push "unlock" button & "tailgate" button at the same time once, the indicator will on for 1 time.

This will set horn sound "on" when locking. Do it again will set the sound "off".

Here our factory default is "on", but I set it "off" now.  :happydance:

Doesn't work on my 2011 U.K. model. Perhaps it can be set via the dealers computer?

It's not so long ago since all alarms had a warning chirp when locking.

Our Toyota Hybrid does.. It is fairly innocuous though...

Mmm, perhaps my button layout is different from yours.  :P
Mine is:
#1 lock
#2 unlock
#3 tailgate

Does anyone have any idea how a mod might be done so that the horn does beep when locked

It doesn't work on mine.  I'd like to hear the beep as I often walk out of the car, use the boot to grab my bags, then have to worry if I remembered to lock it (maybe I'll get into the habit of watching for the light blink more).
Here's what my fob looks like.

I like the idea of that, but I know the SIII Coupe's and some other Hyundai's maybe, had the option to sound the horn only via the remote locking key, other manufacturer's also do it. Id love that option, so when a wee kid comes near, i could hide and hit the button, scaring him...

I really also want to know how to make the window go up/down on the lock/unlock :( Friends mazda 3 does it, he only found out after a year haha, but mine wont, even though ive the auto windows all round

Normally the power to the windows is disabled shortly after the key is removed from the ignition. You would need to modify that function as part of this Mod I assume
