Air Con
So on Thursday I had Halfords check my air con.
It didn’t have any so I paid £50 to have it re gassed.
Worked perfectly went from 24c to 9c so a difference of 13c which is pretty good.
On Friday I went for a drive and noticed the air con wasn’t working so I took it back to Halfords the pressure was bang on at 26 psi
They toppped it back up and I was getting a reading of 5c which was the same as the outside temp.
However checked it last night and I was only seeing a drop of 5c checked it again today and nothing the compressor isn’t even turning on so I guess I have a leak.
 Fingers crossed it’s nothing serious.

Oil Leak
Hi guys so my car has had an engine oil leak for about 4 years from what I can see by reading old mot certificates.
I have found the leak but I cannot seem to find the parts needed to fix it.

The rocker cover is leaking from the main gasket and a couple of the injector oil seals on the rocker cover not the injectors themselves just to be clear.
I have been told that you can only buy these parts as part of a head gasket kit.
Surly this is not rite.
When I bought the car the oil level was over the max mark. 8 months later and about 1000 miles it is now reading normally.
I plan on changing the oil and filter this week.
Changing the gasket/seals is easy enough the only down side is that the injectors ha...

Radiator
Hi guys I am new to the site I just want to share with you some important information that I have learnt over the last few days and the importance of using a digital thermometer when bleeding the coolant system. This is a bit of a long one but please bear with me.

For the last few months i have had to bleed the coolant  system far too many times for one reason or the other.
In the first month of owning the car I had to change the coolant cap as it fell apart.
The thermostat as it was sticking.
There was a small amount of gunk in the system so I used washing detergent to clean and flush  it with the hose pipe to ensure that there was no blockage etc…
I must add that there was no oil or any signs of a blown he...

Wont Start
In August of this year, I bought a Hyundai i30 cw, 1.6 crdi, 90 hp, 2009. It burned a little harder, but the seller said that it was because the car had been parked longer and driven less, the battery was under warranty. However, this continued with me, the starter was made because it was slower (it changed brushes and bushings, rotor bearing), it worked better but still fired from the 2nd time. Checked fuel pressure and pump on diagnostics, everything is ok, there are no errors and parameters are ok, heaters removed and checked, everything works. As the weather is colder now, it starts from the 3rd time and it always happens when the engine cools down, it starts hot on the tooth. I didn't mention that it jerks a little at 1500 rpm, it doe...

Water Pump
I'm looking after my mother in laws 2011 FD after she complained that her favoured local mechanic was fobbing her off. From a review of her service book it was looked after by a Hyundai Main Dealer for the first 5 years then a local mechanic for the last 5 years. Essentially the local guy has done nothing more than an oil/filter change each year.

I've replaced the spark plugs, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter, brake fluid, coolant and transmission fluid. Next question is should the timing belt be replaced as a full kit including a new water pump? The service manual indicates that the belt needs to be replaced at 6 Years/140k. When talking to the local main dealer and checking the service schedule online using the VIN it is s...

TurboCharger
Hey, so I have a 2011 Hyundai i30 2.0 litre 5 speed manual hatchback and I am looking at purchasing a turbo from a 2.0 litre i30N and installing into my car as stated above.  Just wondering if anyone believes this can actually be done and any advise on the subject. It’s an interesting and technical modification and I just looking to gain as much information needed.  PS I know I would have to get the car tuned afterwards if it were installed.

Towbar
Hi All,

Recently I came across a terrific buy on a brand new official Hyundai Towbar and wiring kit for the PD. The part numbers are G3A35APH00 + G3A04APH00 (apparently these were superceded by the current part numbers but confirmed by Hyundai Australia as correct for my vehicle (PD MY18)).  Bought from a dealership in Orange.

Haha not sure really why I bought it but is handy for the occasional Bunnings courtesy trailer load of large items or if I need to pull the skin off a custard!  700kg unbraked towing limit.  :-/

Install all seemed to go fine - but upon starting the car for the first time the display shows a CHECK SYSTEM error message. And the usual Rear Park Assist (beeping and visual on display of how...

Key Fob
Hi all, I have a 2016 i30 Active X and have recently been having issues removing the key from the ignition. I have read other post regarding turning the steering and shifting the gear selector which didn't work. Today I banged the gear selector down, not too hard, while in the Park position and the key came out.
Has anyone had a similar issue and was wondering what the issue might be.
Thank you.
