Could anyone advise me how to tell which linkage type of manual transmission I have on a 2008 manual i30 cw FD diesel 1.6

There’s a rectangle and circular linkage transmission. I’m looking to replace the transmission as the first and third gear and crunching badly. Any help would be appreciated.
