Hi all

Since i first got the car, when i made a call, connected to my phone via Bluetooth, it would come on the central display and automatically come through the audio system.

At some point, can't remember when, it changed. Now it will show on the screen but the audio will continue to come through the phone's speakers until it's answered THEN an alert comes on the screen asking if i want to use the car's audio system. It's a nuisance.

Any idea what may have changed and if i can change it back to being automatically through the car's speakers?

It's the i30 estate, 67 reg.

The phone is the Samsung galaxy note 20 ultra with the latest OS, Android 13, One UI 5.0

Cheers, Marc

Have you tried clearing the bluetooth from phone and car and installed as if first time?

Another which gets mentioned on here and sometimes works is to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes to clear the system.

Have you paired another phone and see how that reacts.

Cheers, I'll have a go at redoing the Bluetooth connection.

Unfortunately it's no better after a full Bluetooth reset.

Never mind, I'll have to accept it as is. When the call is answered i can then just click to move it to hands free. It's just odd it wasn't like this at first

On another note, it's it possible to get the software updated with any improvements since it left the factory? Such as GPS updates?

Aren't the software updates a dealer thing?

If you ask your dealer, they will do this as part of your service.

Cheers all.

I haven't had a service at the dealer for a while, I've chose my local garage that I've used for years.

Oh cheers, no i didn't. I didn't know we could update things ourselves.

So i presume i download the file and add it to the EXISTING  SD card? Or does it need to be a separate one, then replace the original?

Also, the list of car models suggests for the i30 2017 it should be Compact gen5 however the picture next to it doesn't look right, the picture next to Standard gen4 looks like mine.

You have to use their Navigator software to download the updates and update the SD card - that software is on the "Navigation Updater Download" menu item.

The software will help you choose the correct download, but ensure the picture it shows matches your unit.

There's very little difference between the two units you mentioned - looks like the Gen4 has a single 'Favourite' tab wheras the Gen5 has separate Favourite tabs

@marc.knuckle  Your pic looks like you're well behind on updates as none of the pics on the website look like your setup.

Is there any info in your settings that can define the actual model you have? Can you post a screeny of your version & info?

Grab the Navigation Updater package, install & run it.

Then, enter the required details as per pic. Looks like you need the Gen5 stuff as the Gen4 is USB-only

Cool. I'll try to take a picture and add it here.

Do i take out the existing SD card and copy on to there or use a separate SD card for the update then add the original SD back?

I've always used a spare SD card and tested it using that, then duplicated the update to the 'officially issued' SD card. You'll need a 32Gb Class 10 card.

So as opposed to just adding the new stuff, it puts the whole amount of info needed on the card? So if the existing card isn't a class 10, i can use a completely new one and leave it in there?

I use a spare 32Gb card, update it then use that in my car to update the software. After a few days I update the original Hyundai card then swap them over.

So firstly I've attached the software info and the card photo.

When i clicked update, just to see what happened, it said to insert the device with the info on it. It didn't attempt to check the existing card. Is that because it already knew there wasn't any updates on there or because it uses a USB instead?

If you've downloaded and run the Navigation Updater, and used it to download the huuuuge file from Hyundai servers, then proceeded to use the Navigation Updater to populate the SD card, you put that card in the slot in your car then power everything up. It should see the updates on the card and start the upgrade process.

Done  :)

Thanks for all the help.

Only problem is i had to redo our favourite radio stations and it won't now find Heart Xmas. It's a UK station with ONLY xmas songs. However i don't know if it's turned off due to xmas passing but i thought it was year round. I've searched the stations.

On their website it states 'search the DAB+ stations' but the radio only shows DAB however i was listening to it only a couple weeks ago and although i haven't listened to it for the last 2 weeks, the station was still saved on there. Not sure if there is an option to change from DAB to DAB+ and search but i couldn't find one.

Yeah, the hands free is sorted. It now does the opposite of the previous scenario. It starts out as standard using the cars speakers and there is a button to go to the privacy option using your phone.

Spoke too soon. It did it the other way yesterday.

Only difference i can think it's that i had my smartwatch on which can answer the call if needed. Maybe that confuses the system.

I will disconnect my watch next time if i remember and report back
