Title: Jerky gear changes on DCT 7 speed diesel
Post by: Danfrom71 on November 12, 2020, 23:56:45
Hi I have a 2016 i30 diesel with the auto 7 speed DCT, I've noticed that it's a bit jerky when changing through gears and if you put your foot down, nothing happens for a second or so then it launches..might it need a transmission service/oil change? Or is that just how they work, it's done approx 60,000km, appreciate any feedback(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201112/c7827d1e8df31be6d1dab3999002f51f.jpg)

Hi Dan,

We have had some negative feedback on the behaviour of early Hyundai DCT transmissions. @edmagman My mate Eddie had an i40 with DCT that wouldn't behave and he got no joy with Hyundai trying to sort it. It was pretty well sorted by the time i got my 2017 i30 SR but even then wasn't that quick off the mark in 1st gear.

They continue to tweak them, as surprisingly although my wife's 2019, 1.6T DCT Kona has less KW (on paper) it feels quicker off the mark than my SR did. They don't appear to want (or be able to) adjust earlier versions with a simple software upgrade.

Definitely worth asking the question at your next service and hoping that you have one of the apparent minority of Hyundai service managers who is proactive if trying to make the customer happy.

Is it easy enough to do a transmission dump and refresh, some people say should do it at 40,000km
