Title: DPF pressure sensor replacement and ECU
Post by: d10ng on March 17, 2021, 16:32:54
Hi all.
I've had it confirmed by a local mobile mechanic that the dpf pressure sensor has failed and although he had a spare with him, neither of his 2 computers listed Hyundai software.

I'm under the impression that when the sensor is replaced, it needs validating in the ECU, obviously requiring the GDS. This is what the local mechanic told me too and why he didn't replace the sensor as he didn't have the software do it.

So then I called a Hyundai dealership and they were adamant that there was no updating/validating required and it was just a straight part swap. Still £300+ mind.

Now can someone please confirm that ECU validation is required or not? I'm confused.  As if it's not required then I can do what seems a simple part swap myself.

Many thanks
Dave

Hi,

@d10ng
What's the exact model of your i30 ?

I had mine changed (i30 second generation GD 2012) a couple of months ago with an OEM one just like the older one (was made by DENSO).It was just a plug a play thing. After replacing it, I didn't validate the part replacement through GDS even though it's true that it says you should do that. I drove the car with the new part around 1000 km without no visible issues. No warning in in MIL. Car drove fine. Now, since the manual tells we should validate the replacement through GDS it must be for a reason. Maybe interfering with DPF cycles ? After I did the replacement, I still got regens like before. Just to be sure, I did eventually got into a Hyundai dealership and asked them to validate the sensor. They did. Felt no difference.

Hi, it's an 2012 crdi. Thanks for the information about the sensor it's good to know. However when I took it to a mechanic who had the software they in fact found the real reason behind the fault code and it wasn't the sensor. The wiring loom had been worn through and multiple wires were broken and exposed. They replaced the wiring and no issues since.

I'm curious about what symptoms the car had with that issue being present ?
