I have a Hyundai i30 2008 CW (wagon) 1.6 petrol (122 bhp) with confirmed faulty ECU.

I also have a Hyundai i30 2007 FD (Hatchback) 1.4 petrol (109 bhp) and I'm thinking of swapping the ECU, immobiliser, ABS and keys from this car to the 2008 CW version. Will this be compatible being an almost identical car, the ECU part numbers are different. Any known issues or solutions?

Being they're different motors should answer your question :) you have three choices I reckon, either get the ECU repaired - pick up another ECU from same vehicle from a wreckers - or order new ECU through Hyundai parts...if that's even still possible :undecided:

Thanks, that's what I thought, only my mechanic is suggesting to replace the one from my i30 2007 fd and I'm dubious about that because as you said they are different models. He reckons that I may not be able to repair the faulty one as part of the circuit is very visibly burned out. I have found the correct one online but question is will I need a new immobiliser or get it reprogrammed as I dont know if my existing keys will read it? Appreciate any additional info if possible.

Hopefully someone else can answer that question as I wouldn't have a clue about the immobiliser sorry, could be ECU or BCM :Dunno:
