Hi Shambles,
In relation to changing the side mirrors to LED versions, you only need to change the outer housing/casing/shell, or what ever you want to call it. Everything else is retained and stays original, including the mirror tilt motor assembly (which doesn't require dismantling in any way), the mounting plate that goes onto the outside of the A-pillar, and even all the screws that were taken out during the removal process are re-used. When all is completed all I have are empty plastic shells of my original side mirror, which I now keep as spares. Hi-Motors and all the other web sites only sell the plastic shells with the LEDs and wires grafted in. There's nothing magical about them. Think of it like putting on a new pair of classy shoes
