   okay a couple of basic questions
                     with engine running ?  Yes / No ?
                    does car move at all ?  Yes / No ?
                     
 Usually,  clutch NOT working is the normal problem after a change

So it feels like I can change through the gears without using the clutch with the car off.

Now , have you tried starting the car, and even been a bit adventurous,- eg. changing gears while on the road?
