Hi All new member here from UK, but have been reading the forum for a while, having issues with my i30 and looking for help please.

Washed my car today, unfortunately found both of the rear C plate panel cracked. It sounds a bit weird both side cracked (may be due to the hot UK weather last 2 weeks ? I am sure they wasn't there 4 weeks ago) .Does anyone have the same problem or is it common for i30? I am going to order the parts, but is it going to be easy to replace  (any instruction please)? Thanks in advance !!

Seems weird. hard to imagine Hot UK weather considering some of our extremes. Mine have warped slightly, no evidence of cracking.

Any chance they've been tampered with? Looking at the marks along the door edge.

Removal will involve removing the internal cover and some screws. These were a topic of conversation in another Thread by The Gonz , i managed to find the part numbers,.

Strange eh,
looks like impact marks and the central point from where all cracks start is not on an edge.
Usually when plastic gives way, the cracks move away from the point of highest load.

Is your car still within warranty?

I agree with tw2005.

There appears to be damage around the window frame which would suggest someone tried to lever their way in.

If you keep going to those dodgy car parks,  better see if you can get a set made of steel plate

Are you handy with metalwork? I'd consider buying black anodized aluminium or steel plates. :D

My metalwork skill is zero, I ordered both trims from Korea seller for about 21 British pounds including shipping, but could take up to 4 weeks to arrive.

Hi all

Managed to replace both plastic trims this morning, they were held by 3 screws.

First step, pop the inside plastic trim off, then unscrew 3 screws which holding the outside one.

Unscrew the rubber seal helps a lot, as you need to wriggle the outside trim into place.

Dodgy car parks aside, it's been noted several times now that the construction of the panels lends itself to splitting as shown in your photos. My LHS panel showed subtle warping over time culminating in a split like that, so I removed it, super-glued the piece back on, then wrapped it in black vinyl wrap - from a sticker left on a bedroom wall when we moved in  :snigger: - to smooth over the glue line.

Total cost:  "ns"  $0.00  "ns"

2 june you expected 4 week wait.

Great to hear they arrived within a few days and all fixed.

You paid £21,
Just by chance what price did dealer quote?

They arrived in 9 days, way quicker than I expected.

No sure about dealer price.
