Hey i30 Folk

New to the forum, so if this is 'old news' direct me to the bit and I'll get out of your way...

The inner roof lining as it terminates at the front windscreen seems 'unfinished' in my i30 Nav, 66 plate.  It's rough and there is no join or seal- it doesn't actually meet the windscreen!

Now when I come to install a dash cam, that's gonna be fine, as the cable will slip nicely into the gap.

But as it stands, i feel a bit bereft.

How's your roof lining?

Ta for anything

My 3 i30s, my 2 KIA Vengas and My Kia Niro were/are all like that. Why worry - it makes car cam installation a breeze and from inside the car the small gap is invisible.

It's a super car - enjoy it.

      The great Co. Durham.
Mine is the same 2011 model. No parting,  the wire for dash cam just slips inside. Cable then down rubber seals and into back of glove box.    Mustn't use my new hooter sound with a handle like author has. Never mind toot toot.      :goodjob2: :goodjob:

Same for mine. I saw this when I used the lining for my powered in-mirror reversing camera. No problem. :victory:

Yes it is a bit odd, but as the others say, not obvious from inside or out. A friend has a new Holden Trax (small SUV here in Australia ) and hers is similar but worse, with an obvious,  jagged edge. She complained and made them replace it under warranty and the replacement was just as bad!

Cheers all

Less worried now that 'it's just the way it is'.

As mentioned, makes cabling a bit easier.

Thread closed.

Fairly sure my lining terminates with a finished plastic "bead". Must remember to check & take a photo tomorrow.

As everyone has said that's the way they are.
Shambles is thinking about the plastic pillar moulds that he took off.
The whole headlining could be removed in one piece.
He then glued mohair carpet to the metal roof, not only is he the talk of Manchester, but the long strands droop down and keep his ears warm.

True story  :D

Nah, but I was wrong anyway (no plastic beading between roofliner and glass).

My "true story" comment actually related to a Ford Escort van I bought in Sydney. Same shade of green, but purple mohair. Thanks Gonz :goodjob2:

I didn't even notice it when I had the entire roof lining down for sound/heat insulation in the roof. Out of sight, out of mind. :)

Probably fairly easy to slip on a rubber seal if you really want to.

Missed this beauty. looks like it has been parked up at the rainforest where gary is. He had some lovely growth in his Bimmer, not as pretty as this though. :judges:

Haha! I just noticed the carpet on the bodywork there too! Looks like astroturf-green!
