I came across this clip, that may appeal to our techy types. including @Lakes  and @tw2005
The guy is removing a spigot bearing from a crankshaft ( it supports the front shaft of the gearbox)
His method demonstrates the old saying where there is a will there is a way.

I've seen a video where they used toiletpaper and water. Wet tp did the same thing.

Not as messy as grease for sure, simple hydraulics. I remember trying  grease on a G18, l was hopeless. Had to get a real mechanic to do it. Think I was 18 at the time. Had to convert it to take a manual spigot shaft, was from a Jap Auto back in the day when they shipped heaps of low K used Japanese motors into Oz.

Yesterday, I took Sundiz's hint about tp and used paper towels and oil. It worked!
Im doing the manual conversion on the new Z3 motor.
I  pounded about 10 towels into the Bimmer , before it slid out .
In the past I have inserted the head of a cup head/coach bolt behind a bearing , added a socket as a spacer and then wound it out.

The paper and oil. The bolt method has to be modified for each car .
