That jack assembly and cable is specifically for the Australian carplay/android auto enabled Cartronics units, I'm not sure if would be compatible with an overseas unit :undecided:

The jack assemble pictured has two cable connections on the rear and your factory installed one should only have one, the cable pictured shouldn't even fit your model.

It is? How did you reach that conclusion from those images?

I was just having a quick look in the cat and it's showing a couple of types in the Europe market one looks the same as shown, no idea on the leads or head unit though.

Because the images were taken from VTH and those part displayed are for the GD-03 upgrade.

The connection required would be for your second picture with the single plug, on the face it's looks the same though different connections at the rear.

Never mind, found the VTH reference. I'm not familiar with that post. For a moment I was thinking you had special mental  powers , I tried mine and failed

Sorry for my poor etiquette. My car does not have the AUX and USB jack I'm just looking at trying to buy 1 and retro fitting. I'm assuming I will need the cable aswell. I don't want the aus version or anything just 1 to fit my car maybe it's a question for main dealer parts dept!

If your car doesn't come with the jack assembly then does the factory unit even have to capability to connect such wiring :undecided: is there already a factory plug behind the unit waiting :undecided:

On the earlier Australian GD-01 GD-02 the connection is just one big plug like tw2005 pictured
(https://3.allegroimg.com/original/036b84/018fe76f4f39b3a0bc3deacd10a3)

The later Australian model GD-03 headunits (2015-2016) and onwards that had carplay/android capability changed the connection type requiring a high powered USB cable and separate auxiliary plug.

Just reading the diagrams. The single connector 16 pin is for non navigational head units.

The other with the 12 pin and separate 4 pin USB connection was for the Navi Units.

Not sure how much the dealer will help as they'll want VIN for parts identifcation and your trying to fit something not fitted originally. Could be beyond their knowledge unless there was an option to have it fitted.

Either of those are going to fit into the opening.

The unknown is What are you connecting to?

Trying to figure out what the "Classic" is but I get the impression it's the base model with no centre console armrest and no USB connection anywhere?

So, will this be connecting to the original factory radio? If so what model is that? Then you'd have to check if there is the ability to connect to it.

As far as getting the leads from the dealer, from what I see the harness is 1 massive integrated unit that is fitted out to the entire dash.

It's not a single fly lead going from radio to socket as far  as I can tell.

I expect the back of your radio will be like this

It's two plugs, one on the right is the one for AUX/USB/steering vol controls

You may be better off finding an up-spec model that has a standard radio and usb fitted at a wrecking yard, and see if the harness can be pulled apart to get the connectors and wiring at both ends or at worst cut away the rejoined.

Best case would be if the wiring harness is  there but not used in your car. Sometimes that can be the case.

But with exact info like a VIN of your model and that of a model with  these items fitted, it's guesswork and you won't know until you pull the car apart.

These pinouts are on the harness side and will help if you need to do your own wiring.

This is for the single 16pin socket setup not the item you linked an image to

Is there a gap where the usb and aux connection is supposed to be? I have only seen the active and nav se styles but it should be there as standard for usb playback and aux in

I have the usb aux 16 pin assembly to sell if needed

Only way you're going to know is to remove the head unit and aircon panel and see whats there.

have opened the console up and found a cable which is taped to the two 12v power outlets. Does it look like the AUX usb socket might fit it?

This is my previous assembly before I retrofitted to the GD-03. It does look like it will fit with the image you posted.
I still have it and it is for sale if you want it, it’s from the 2013 i30 active.

I managed to swap the USB aux kit over as advised it plugged straight in and worked. Question the AUX seems to work fine but I'm not sure on the USB. When I plug my phone in the HU detects it and attempts to load but then it displays the msg USB error. There is power going to my phone as it charges it. I have also tried a USB stick and I get the msg no data. Does anyone know if you have to have your USB stick etc formatted in a particular way.

Why don't you just format the usb to fat32 and try it and if that don't work try it with NTFS or read the manual on the radio. I also suspect that USB has enough power for a USB  stick but not intended for phones .

GD-01 - Only FAT, FAT12, FAT16 and FAT32 file systems are supported.

Yes it does need to be formatted to fat32. As the above post the usb is not made for a phone and it never even charged my android phone, I just used a dual usb 12v adapter to charge my phone and left the usb stick with all by music albums on plugged in when needed.

Fantastic work though getting it all up and running
