2015-2015 I 30 Shift Lock

Recently in the last week  When Parking it sometines and coming back to the car Pressing down on the break does not disengage the  Auto Gear Leaver and I have to use the  Shift Lock Release.
Anyone Know what this could be and would i be doing damge to my car its booked in on Thursday For a service.
wondering am i stuffing my car by Releasing the  shift lock to make it drive?

If anyone can help it may take hours or even a day or so until our more active members (worldwide) have seen it and had a think. I am not sure so will leave it to others...

It's under wty let them sort it.  The manual shift lock release is there as redundancy for  this exact situation where either the electrical side is missing or defective or you need to move the vehicle and have no key. Generally it's solenoid activated.

As to what the cause is, ignition needs to be and brake pedal so I'm thinking brake switch or solenoid but i don't know the design or circuit so it's a guess.
