Problems & Issues

I have a weird problem with my car. When driving the immobilizer warning light comes on when driving. It doesn't come on properly, more fades in gradually and is very dim. To make it weirder it will disappear when I turn the a/c on. The car starts and runs fine.

Any ideas??

Hi, Has anyone with a 2017/18 I30 tourer experienced any issues with the brakes not releasing when trying to set off in reverse on an incline?
The brake warning light goes out from the dashboard but the brakes are not released.....
I rejected my 1st I30 over this fault, and now the replacement vehicle is displaying the same reluctance to release the brakes when required, its an intermittent fault any ideas guys?

Hatch GD
Noticed the pad which protects the hatch release button has crumbled.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Looking at it the "rubber" bit that you press in has dried out and the constant pressing has caused the "rubber" to crumble.

Looked to see if it is a cap that pulls off but doesn't want to budge.

So it seems that it is a moulded unit which fits into the body work.

Does anyone have:
 1. A detail schematic view of the tailgate set up so i can see how žt fits together
2. Part number

Hi...shouldn't my PD diesel have a dpf light near the speedo? I expect that it should light for a second when you start the car?

So Iím about to have my car serviced for itís 6th time (72m service) and the 6 years I have owned it, every service has only involved engine oil and filter with the odd fuel filter on one of them and an air filter on this upcoming service and tyre rotation.  Everything else is a massive list of ďinspect, inspect, inspect etcĒ.  Do you think anyone has realistically ever done these inspections?

Given the number of cars each dealership churns over each day and the fact that most staff doing these services must be SO bored changing oil and their reluctance to look at anything out of the ordinary that gets asked of them to check making it easier to just come back with ďno fault foundĒ or something like that, which means you need to ...

Door Locking
Iíve got the new generation i30 and Iím having issues with the door handles sticking. The handles pull out ok but I need to push them back in, they sometimes wonít go back in themselves. Iíve managed to free off the driver one with WD40 but the passenger handle is still sticking. Anyone else have this issue?

Hi All.
my car has done around 120k and i think it might be time to do the fluids.
I bought the car at 80k, but I doubt these were done at all.

Is it time? If so, what product available in Australia do you recommend?

Thank you!!!!!

Hi Folks,

Long story short, I drove about 10 miles today with the handbrake 50% engaged. I eventually saw the warning light on the dash.

BUT... shouldn't there be an audible alarm or bell like the seat belt alarm when you start driving with it engaged?

So down the rabbit hole I go.

Was going to go all out but have wound it back to a basic install comprising off 2 x Rockford Fosgate 10" shallow subs 1 x Rockford Fosgate 5 channel amp and front component speakers (still not determined but most likely Hertz or Focal).

For now I will be using LOC's for the signal but if this proves unsatisfactory I'll add something along the lines of an Audiocontol LC8i

Power wise I'll leave the OEM battery for now but add a 2 farad cap into the system, I had the same in my Mazda 3 which had a bigger install and it proved OK but time will tell and if I need more storage and a bigger alternator then so be it.

Awaiting delivery of the amp and subs but thought I would ...

Hi all, fairly new to this forum. Just wanted to weigh in with my experience and observations using winter tyres. My commute is semi-rural into town along well gritted routes with only two unloved country hills and a hilly 1/2 mile private road with no activity whatsoever.

For the past 10 years, I've had a second set of wheels fitted with winter tyres for all of my cars. At first, Goodyear Ultra Grip and then Nokian WR D3 and D4. Always mounted on either 2nd hand alloys or the original wheels (new, smarter wheels used for the summer). I store the wheels on a vertical wheel stack safely in the garage so that they don't go square.

Usually, this has been a great option. Normally get 2-3 years (read: winters) out of each s...
