Hi all, first post so hopefully in the right spot.

Unfortunately our i30 was rear ended on the weekend so the back panel is a bit out of alignment. We can still close the boot so it locks in, but the dash still shows it as open and leaves the lights on.

Does anyone have a solution for 'tricking' it to think the boot is closed?

The only thing I can think of is to pull the globe out in the boot but this doesn't fix the dash issue. Where is the sensor that identifies the boot as closed? Is there a specific fuse that could be pulled to resolve it or am I just going to have to disconnect the battery over night for the next few weeks til we get it fixed?

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I don't really fancy jump starting the car each morning!

Can you push sensor down and fix closed with tape or even blue tack...?

Ps
Sorry to hear of mishap but hope not too much damage to repair

The real question is 'where is that sensor?'.
I have the same model but have never seen it, although exploring around the big rubber seal or where the hinges swing into the body would tell you.
Good luck. If you don't find it or someone else doesn't post an answer, I'll have a look tomorrow for you.
Shame this happened just now and you're in Adelaide. We just did the drive back from there today.

I just googled 'boot light switch i30' and it pointed back to a 2015 thread in this forum. It mentioned the switch being inside the lock mechanism itself, so look there. :victory:

Look to where the latchhits the keeper is and is in the keeper unit.

Thanks all for the comments, haven't yet really had the time to scope out the latch but will do so when I get the chance.

Have pulled the boot globe out so the only light on now is the dash showing the boot open which may be LED? Battery died over the weekend so gave it a full charge which should allow me to get through the week.

Unfortunately wont be fixed until the new year, but it will be parked over Christmas as work closes so no real loss there.

Forum is great, I have been a lurker for a number of years, so hopefully I can add some of my experiences and knowledge as well :)

If not being used, there is a fuse you can remove, not sure what called, but "hibernates" the car.
