Hi there i30ers,

A lifelong VW Golf driver, I'm setting myself up as a driving instructor - so the brief was for:
  • an easy to drive hatch in Auto and white
  • going to feel comfortable sitting in for many hours a day
  • Android Auto for me
  • good warranty and service
  • looked good on road
  • safety features to ease the nerves of newbie drivers (and myself) which can be dialled down
  • has a manual version for a bit down the track
Must say that the i30 was just like jumping into my Golf Series 7 with out the $$$, certainly much better than the Polo, Mazda 3 or Corolla that I also tested.
Kitted up with the SmartSense option I managed a drive away price of $26k - not sure if this is great as I'm not the best haggler.

Anyway - picking it up next Wed (much better than the months I might have waited for a Polo)

Looking forward to my first Hyundai

cheers - John

Welcome. As a new owner myself I'm a little curious about pricing, so looked it up. It's a significant discount on RRP, and I'd certainly be happy with what you paid. Congrats.

Oh, I just priced it up in their calculator... that run out price doesn't include Smartsense, of course.

No, but smart sense is only another 1k if using the included factory bonus.

@Johns_Drive

You probably have grounds to protest with your price if the below figures are true. Seeing as you haven't taken delivery yet. Worth asking the question, they would have known this deal was coming so they have a duty of care.  :undecided:

Even if they were to throw in a few extras to get you back on side.  :undecided:

You mention a runout price here, is there a new model coming soon ?
Doesn't seem that long ago the PD2 was introduced, is it on the chopping block now ?

I haven't heard of a newer update coming but you never know, the first model wasn't out for long before they released PD2, maybe just clearing pre tax year stock :Dunno:

Hi there - thanks for the welcome...

Nothing like $$$ to get a car conversation going :)

The standard quote via the Hyundai site is onroad for $29k when SmartSense is included and this seems to include the $500 factory bonus.

I found that being in the driving school business I was able to get National Fleet pricing which helped in the negotiation process. So if you have access to an ABN and can tick off one of the organisations on the Fleet page ( :link: Hyundai Fleet Management | Hyundai Australia) eg be a teacher - see what you can do...

Now off to do my BAS return and get the GST (another $2.4k) refunded as well!

I guess I should apply my usual approach to car pricing - once you buy a car there's always a better price on offer, so don't even look at things for a year or so...

Again - thanks for the welcome, now to pick up the new car , give it a drive up to Katoomba and back and test out all the buttons...

cheers - John

@Johns_Drive, that's a good policy (and sorry I brought up the price!). Enjoy the drive.
