Well, after 11 years 3 months I am waving goodbye to my dear Viv next Tuesday at around 3pm.

We have traded her (and the Suzuki Alto that my husband drives) in for a new Kona Highlander 1.6L turbo.   It (she?) is a colour called Dark Knight which is a dark grey.

Am I allowed to stay now I don’t own an i30?   :whistler:  I promise I’ll put up some photos if you let me stay........  :winker:

Of course you can stay. Trish has a White Turbo Kona Active and I have the Camry Hybrid, but I'm not going anywhere. I think of our Kona as a hi30 anyway.

Great choice. Trish loves her Turbo (definitely worth the extra money over the 2.0 To get the independent rear, AWD and extra zip of the 1.6T.

Picked up our new car last Tuesday. She’s a real beauty, and great to drive (not that we’ve been far, we still haven’t worked up the courage to go out into the crowds ).  My kids both laughed because I’ve always hated SUVs, and made fun of people who ‘steer’ automatics. Yes, my new car is both these things. Getting older and moving into the inner ‘burbs (hopefully by mid next year) have made both things more appealing.

I’ve been trying to work out how to get the photos on here since then.  All my photos are too big, but hopefully I’ll work it out and have some up soon. Assistance welcome. 🙄

Congratulations on the new car, Kona's are lovely cars :goodjob2:

I tried to talk my folks into a new Kona last week, they liked the car but it was impossible for anyone over 6ft to get in the back seat :disapp: my father and his mates like to sit back there and let the women drive :crazy1: :snigger:

They ended up with a new Suzuki Vitara in the end which has even surprised me how good a little car they are :)

Congratumulations, can't wait for the write after you've driven it a while.  I am thinking my next motor will have to be an auto too, old age and poverty coming on rapidly.  Anyhow, enjoy  :goodjob: :goodjob: :goodjob:

Glad you are enjoying it. I got up especially at 3 am to help you post photos. Ignore the adding attachment link. Click on the first one instead that says click here to add photos and follow the instructions.

My husband was keen on the Vitara, but the Kona had more extras that appealed to me.  It was a fair bit more expensive, but we keep our cars for a decade or more so the cost is mitigated over time.

.

Viv and mini me (Alto) at their last stop.   :blubber:

The dealer put a bow on her.   :D She looks a little bit blueish but in fact she is dark grey.

A very small odometer reading.  :happydance:

Thanks Daz.  Looking for a name for her.  All suggestions considered.

Great car, you definitely made the right choice. Wish i was allowed to drive Trish's more. She doesn't like her seat and mirrors moved.  That's her excuse anyway.  Glad to help with your photo posting.

I'll put my thinking cap on for a name.  Best I've heard on the FB kona owners club was Panda for a white one...I'm surprised Trish didn't adopt that for hers. Clever I thought.

Take care and enjoy  :DoubleKiss:

Looking for a name for her.

"Kona Highlander"  and  "Dark Knight"

Definitely a "he" car and those words should conjure up several options for a name :D

How about "Sir Batman of the clan McCloud"  (think Batman and the Highlander film)

My sons first response was to send me a .gif of Batman.  I’m thinking I might call ‘him’ Bruce.

After so many years with my Viv I’ll find it hard to think of my car as male, but you’re right about that suiting better I think

Sorry Steve, I skipped over most of the posts and didn't notice your suggestion/reference :head_knock:

Could be a real badass and call it Kurgan :snigger:

I think I’ll go with Connor.   :goodjob2:

I don’t watch the tv show but looking at the photo of Clancy, I think my car is a LOT better looking.     :crazy1:

Thanks for the suggestions.  :clapthanks:

:Drive:   Here’s a photo of Connor. Isn’t he handsome.   :D

I haven’t really had any problems adjusting to the difference between Connor and Viv.  My only mental block seems to be turning off the engine. After having driven for 43 years ( :crazy1:) I find I keep reaching for the right side of the steering wheel to turn off the keys. Connor of course has a push button start, on the left.  :whistler:

Well, he’s hit the 1500k mark so here’s my review.    :needspecscleaning:

I could not be happier.  :happydance:  He is easy to drive, and easy to park. I am still working out how to use all the extras, but I love the sunroof most of all.  The nav is easy to use, the auto wipers and auto headlights are great, and the aircon is really good.

We have had two people in the back at different times who are both over 6 foot tall, and both said they had plenty of room.  One was our son, so he would not have hesitated to complain.

I have a concern about fitting my mum’s walker into the boot, but I’ve yet to give that a go so I’m not sure.

All in all I’m very happy, and wouldn’t hesitate to give him five stars.   :honk:
