Just wondering if anyone out there has played around much with stiffening up the ride of the earlier generation i30's?
Approaching the big 100k  mark on my 08 CRDI and looking at making it a big tighter around corners and also for some towing.....

Was looking at coil overs but the $$$$ were a bit too high, with wedding coming up trying to find the least expensive options.

Dunno about towing... I've only towed a light trailer so far but around corners is something else. You might only need a changed balance between over and under steer as distinct from "stiffening". The FD (at least) seems to have an excessive understeer characteristic for my preference. I modified that to my liking by a thicker sway-bar.

did you fit the thicker sway bar yourself?

I was intending to but getting too old and stiff these days to crawl under. I had local mechanic do it, it's only 6 bolts. Even so it was a little tricky for him and he rang me some time into the job to complain that the bar didn't fit and some parts must be missing. He was going to refit the old one and call it quits but managed to work it out before I returned to pick it up. I suspect he didn't realise he would need to load the suspension. At least that's what I decided I'd need to do when I looked at doing it initially.

Ps just purchased a complete set of King Springs ( front and rear ) and new shocks, complete lowering of 30mm, will be fitting them tomorrow!!

It's a very nicely made item but there are others to be found, and cheaper. I paid $200 delivered.

There is also a genuine Hyundai 21mm bar for $73 that I believe will fit, available here http://www.hyundaiaccessorystore.com/hyundai_elantra_rear_sway_bar.html but shipping from the states at the time brought it to $330. Ouch!

Just read your review of the ultraracing bar, sounds pretty good to me. I am after very similar thing to you, i just want to eliminate as much of the high speed understeer as i can. Will order this once the new coils/shocks are in.
