I read that ex- PM Bob Hawke has died.
I can only see this as  the last nail in Scott Morrison's hope for re-election.
Morrison has spun the 'only Liberals can control the economy' line , as usual.
However, electors will be reminded, 2 days out from voting , that the Hawke - Keating team was financially the most progressive government we have  had since WW2.

Here's hoping that the charismatic ol' bugger had a frothy in the hand as he went.

Yeah, and Shorten milked it for all it was worth in his public announcement. The sniveling little creep...  :disapp:

Come Saturday night or Sunday if Shorten succeeds and the first thing he does is look up to the left, rubs his ear and sounds like this, we know what really went down.

A true classic character of Australian life.
A loudmouth,  piss head , yobo with an English University education.
No matter your political preference, you've got to admit he & Keating changed this country for the better.
Farking classic of a man.

I'm sure that  if Howard died , the Sco-Mo would have milked it  too .
AFTER checking with Abbott, Fryed-in-brain,  A Jones,  A Bolt and Palmer.

Funny most are talking about his drinking efforts above his economic achievements....

What is more of a worry is the media suddenly saying its close. They seem never to be right.

I'm not too sure that Hawke's departure will achieve anything much more than show how much less Shorten is.

Irrespective of political leanings, we have to admit that Shorten is all we have.

While in Poland, I made a detour to Warsaw.  :disapp:  My mission was to go to the Oz Embassy and (vote) aka drive a stake through the heart of my evil local member_ Peter Dutton.

A few days later Keating was advising Dixon voters to do just that.  :goodjob2:  :victory:

Even as a "non labor" voter,  I find that Dutton unpalatable (he looks like the Grim Reaper to me!)

Dutton is a nasty piece of work, Ive had few battles with him in local media, once face to face.

Incidentally, I as a life long non- partisan, self employed, bloke I vote for the best man, labor lib or Green.

The danger in voting for the best man is that party politics can remove him before he can deliver. Some thought needs to be given to the party behind the man, to anticipate what you get without him.

* 'man' is used as a general term for any person. I can't invent terms for the ever-growing subset of LGBTIDONTKNOWANYMORE

 While hardly a laughing matter, great expression.  :goodjob2:

Yes, and above is Morrison's problem as is ours, who else is left? most Libs have left, self-destructed or been plain destructive.

Meanwhile, all Bill has had to do is stand still and avoid falling Lib. rubble.

To answer your question, young Glass Hopper, and to add to my conversation with the great 'G' above,

If one is welded to a Party, he is of no use to the country, like our "non Labor" friend on Jurassic Island, anyone who is not a swinger becomes a mere statistic who is discounted by the very people before whom he/she bends to expose personal parts that he/she believes may entice trinkets thrown in his/her direction by his/her very own deity.

If Mal (the selfie king) was the best I'd hate to see the worst...

He did bugger all when he was the leader and couldn't make a decision to save himself..  :crazy1:

I found Julie a bit smug, if she had become PM I'm not sure where it would have gone.  :undecided:

It's ok. I'm not as passionate with politics as I am with some other things. :whistler:

When I met Mal recently(just before his demise) I wasn't at all impressed. Although I rate him higher than Abbott (doesn't say much for Abbott)

Whatever will be will be (I've cast my vote)  :undecided:

Don't know about 'no use' but I get your sentiment. I have no party allegiance, and I don't think it's the uniform that does that. I decide at every vote - one vote, but it's mine, not a party's. Sadly, we have those who will be lifers one way or the other regardless of the debate. Nuff sed, no more from me on politics - I hate gas bagging about it.

Yep, do not like the man at all. There aren't a lot in the party that I do like to be honest. I'm glad Dutton, Pyne and Joyce have pretty much disappeared from being featured [although I just spied the latter's ugly mug on the TV just now]. They need some young fresh blood.

Abbots  gone.
But the rest isn't panning out the way the pundits called it.
One expert is already predicting  a Coalition victory, based on a strong showing in QLD.
Another commentator, an ex Senator is saying based on current figures  Labor won't habebthe numbers for a majority government.

Still early days though.

I think people could see through Shortens fake persona. I'm genuinely surprised, I expected a big swing to labor, not that I had much confidence they could do any better..  :undecided:

Mate, join me at the wake. Whiskey and Nembutal?  :whistler:

Always liked Wong, she has Bishop's level of intellect and delivery.

Im appalled to have Dutton back near me,  :disapp: :disapp: :disapp: :disapp: :disapp: glad to see Abbott get just deserts ( not before time)..

Lacklustre Shorten has always been a thorn in my side, but I thought, under current  circumstances, the 'Corpse of Hitler' could beat Morrison .  :Ouch:
