Hi i am  new to this forum but I have a petrol i30 automatic and this week the esc light comes on then the tachometer fails. Does anyone know what this issue could be by any chance?

Could be crankshaft sensor, there are a number of threads of people talking about this, personally I can't talk from experience as I have the Diesel and had not issues like this yet.

You'd have to try and search to see what has been discussed previously. Does come up regular enough in discussion.

I just put the vin in but it says it’s not affected by the recall but thank you anyway as I didn’t know about that

My mechanic today changed the crank angle sensor and yeah it seems to have fixed the issue!

I had to wait due to work and car ran with no tachometer and the esc light on. Now running beautifully

always great to get some feedback for fault finding, just helps so many when gathering evidence to support theories.
