Hi friends,

I have discovered uneven wear on my tyres and sent my car for 4 wheel alignment.

The mechanic told me that the both rear wheel of I30 cannot be adjusted for Camber alignment. It is left to be at 2 degrees off alignment.

Is it true? Can it be rectified?

He told me to buy a pair of Camber bars before he can reinstall to fix the camber alignment. What is your opinion?

regards,
tede

Tede, you're in Singapore,  yes?
If the camber is out that much then yes, something needs to be done. Camber pins might be an answer but I'm puzzled as to why a wheel aligner wouldn't get the parts in himself and fit them.

It would also help to have some details of your car's model.

It's correct that the rear camber can't be adjusted on the FD model (2007-2012)

However, toe can be adjusted and if toe is out of spec that can also cause uneven wear. I don't remember the spec's for rear camber, but mine have about -1º50" camber on the rear without any wear problems.

I have much more wear on the inner side of all tyres - I was going to go to tyre alignment but now it seems to me it is pointless if you cant align the rear ones.
Tyres I am speaking about are 4,5 years old and they were back and front rotated but unfortunately not in cross.

Negative camber means more inner wear, yes?

Yes it does. But I'd still check the alignment because, if the tyres were rotated, it's possible the wear happened on the front. Toe out will cause a similar wear pattern.

Can the inner wear be caused  by only inner break pads breaking?

No, whatever braking that occurs, applies evenly to the whole wheel assembly.
