Hi,

I own a Cee'd 2012 1.4 CRDi.
After 3 years and 40k km, the glowplugs have gone.
I tried to replace them but they are hard to reach. They seat in the rear side of the engine.
I detached some connectors and the heat shield but I can only touch them with the tip of my fingers.
Looks like I have to take apart half the engine and this does not sound the right way.
I took a visit to kia-hotline.com (which should be the official repair manual for the mechanics) but it only shows their location and the torque to apply. I found nothing about the whole procedure.
Do you have some other ideas? Someone had experience?

Thanks a lot and sorry for my bad english. I am Italian :)

:welcum: Your English is fine. There is a special tool required I think. Someone should be along shortly that can help you more.

If they're like the 1,6 plugs you need a 12 mm long/deep socket to remove the glow plugs. Besides that, it's straight forward.

DO NOT add any grease on the threads when you mount the new plugs.!

Before you go to all that trouble, have you checked that the glow plugs are being energised at startup. There is a big amp relay to facilitate this in the engine bay, I believe.

Thank you!
I decided to have the work done by KIA dealer because there were too many connectors and pipes to detach :(

A wise choice if you don't feel you're up to it yourself  :goodjob2:
