Just getting all the parts together to repair one very noisey and violently knocking drive belt tensioner.

Originally I thought it was the tensioner but since learnt these have overrun pulleys on the alt which seize.

Parts:

Alt pulley OAP005
Pulley removal tool: OAPT33
Drive Belt: 5PK1811 (Bosch)
Idler Pulley: (flat) EP230, This also is the same pulley on the tensioner if you wanted to replace that
Idler Pulley(ribbed): EP231

Alternator Bearings:

 Front 3733437400, (17x47x14mm) , (6303-2rs),

rear 3734237400, 6202-2rs, (15X35X11)

Not too sure if I'll succeed with both bearings , soon find out

Ended up bailing on the bearings. The slip rings and brushes had significant wear at 170 000k and I did not have the parts or time to deal with that.

Noise and knocking gone from the belt however it is still fluttering a bit. Suspect the tensioner needs doing too possible damaged from the violent oscillations previous.

Pulley 100% seized, was easy job with a cheap impact gun,

yes it's  made in China, but genuine part from South Australia.

Or South Korea even

Not doubting its genuine, just surprised they flicked its manafacture to China.

handy  video on Valeo Alternator brush replacement. Good information. What you see is very similar to what I saw in mine.

Both sliprings badly worn, top being the worst with also the top brush worn out.

Mine was about half as worn as this one but noticebly the top brush wears much quicker.

Just installed brand new tensioner and it's still fluttering but no great nosie, maybe bearings in the alternator I really don't know but I do know my hatch is steady as. Oh well, least I know what not to replace next time
