As the i30 is produced in the Czech Republic I visited the Czech Hy site. Here's the spec for the hatchback. Now I don't speak or read Czech but I guess most figures speak for themselves.  :P

https://www.hyundai.cz/files/download/model/i30-2017/i30-tech-spec.pdf

A little disappointed that the 1,4 T-GDi is only rated at 1400 kg towing capacity and the lack of a more powerfull diesel.

I agree!! would be good if they would have added more than just looks 2.2 CRDi would be great!! Ford do it with Focus. must be keeping costs down?

Thanks Henning.  The performance figures are pretty tardy (0-100) compared with other brands. I know they are going to have a performance model but standard cars need a bit more "poke"

Hey team,

Made an aussie version using some adobe magic and google translate that might be a bit easier to read. Click for big and then the full size button at the top.

Forgot to fix the fuel capacity but i cant be bothered saving it again for the third time.

:P I wanted a way to distinguish it in case an official spec guide came out and was posted. Figured it was appropriate
Turns out I missed a few translations so it's pretty obvious already !

Uh I mean, what are you suggesting? That car is the right way up, thats how we drive here ! :D

Im still not convinced about the look of the vehicle, too bland..I think Hyundai has gone a few steps back with this one.

I watched that one a couple of days ago but hadn't got around to posting a link, so thanks.  :goodjob:

He seems very pro golf doesn't he... and doesn't seem to take Hyundai too seriously.

Sounds like they have very much trodden the middle ground for the reasons he states in the review.

Yes, I think the GD was the best looking i30 model.
Not saying best model necessary, but aesthetically.

Slydog
It does seem a little bland compared to the GD model, but overall I don't mind it.

It does have a bit of a Audi look to the front and a bit of a Golf look at the back.
The reviewer does seem to have a bias to Audi/Volkswagen.
Personally I won't be giving Volkswagen any of my cash after showing their contempt for the entire populations well-being with the diesel-gate scandal.
Ultimately I won't be in the car market for at least another 3 years (touch wood) so there will be plenty less biased reviews out by then.   :goodjob2:

Fiat - Chrysler are also involved in the emissions cheating now too.

Yeah well I wouldn't drive any of those either, even if you bought it for me :D

Watched that review. It really reminds me of a mazda 3 in this generation. But i really dislike that sticker style logo on the front. I was 50/50 on the front grill, but the fact that the logo on the front appears to be 2D really puts me off.

Also agree with him the engine options don't wow me, even less so than past generations. I like the power/torque diesel engines offer but I feel like it's not that sensible to buy a brand new diesel these days - especially over there in the UK where they are considering banning diesel vehicles in central areas! I think i'd want a 1.6 or ideally 1.8L turbo petrol to give it that extra torque. Hoping to be proven wrong on this though, maybe they will have more engine options in other markets, or they will have extracted every bit of power possible out of a 1.4!

It was the climate change (aka global warming, CAGW) movement that drove the push to small diesels in the first place due to lower CO2 emissions. Now they have deemed the combination of particulates and CO2 to be worse than emissions from petrol cars. It's probably time to be a little skeptical of climate change politics.

Is that a carbon-neutral bat and ball and is the home energy-self-sufficient? :whistler:
