I've continually griped about the mike quality in my 2013 active diesel, anyone attempted to swap for an upmarket head unit or replaced the mike? avionics engineer son asked me to ask forum before going to wreckers or shop

I don't know what Mike is doing stuffed in the dash but get the lad to grab one of these for you.

This was mentioned recently, one of the subject experts posted a letter re crap GD mic in the last week .
Hopefully they will pop up for you soon as I can't remember where it is, sorry

Elantraelite is the person that raised this, 08/04/17 post re update from GD to santa fe.
I used the search function as I remembered the company cartronics.

You mean like @The Gonz . i did actually retrofit the later bluetoothed headunit for the FD into mine. Don't use it a lot but no one has complained of the mic in that being no good. Does make thing easier except the LCD is fragile to heat, but it was filthy cheap used, I ca live with it.

My pseudo-permanently fitted GPS unit pairs with our phones and works very well for hands free so we really have no need of a head unit for that. :D

Howdy, I actually called my Hyundai dealership about this today.
They are still waiting on further instruction regarding the new hardware / software update of the headunit.
The tech I spoke to knew the update was coming but thought it was only a software upgrade, not hardware replacement. However, he did say that at this stage it looks like I knew more about then update than he did.
They're expecting a bulletin to be released mid May, which is inline with the information I got from Cartronics.

I've managed to find out the oed unit is produced and supplied by motrex, I've sent them an email but wont expect a reply, they have an office in north western Sydney, might just drive out there for a chat with an engineer?

Curious...It looks like Motrex do the navigation head units, but they don't mention the apple car play headunit.
There is 2 manufacturers of the headunits in Hyundai's currently
If the head unit has model number of GD-01, GD-02, FD-01 etc... It's a Cartronics unit.
Will be interested to see how helpful they are.

thanks for your involvement and info on my post, Hyundai workshop manager mentioned a software update he'd put in next service they've already replaced the head unit 2 years back for same complaint, so i doubt they ll change it again?
so ill get the service done then if there is not improvement ill look for a replacement unit with a separate mike.
