got told by the dealer that the i30 will be out from next week and thinks that it will start at $22,000 for the manual active and $2000 more for manual. active X is dropped

Today I got a call from my local dealer, They have a new PD i30 Elite in stock - I immediately went down for a test drive, because I thought it was still a couple of weeks away.

I30 Elite White with optional roof - John @ Doncaster Hyundai, tell him Norman with the i20 sent you, if your interested

Seams a nice car, i felt that the roof was a little lower then the previous model, but maybe that was because of the roof, took it on the freeway, drove like a big car, and the lane departure system works great!. The smart cruse control is also amazing, I really like it.

But then john told me the prices .. . A Premium diesel is the same price as the SR Premium and came to a total cost of $39,090 and when I asked for $5,000 off her laughed at me .. .

But overall a nice upgrade from the GD model, will be interesting too see how popular it is with the pricing, I should think Hyundai will adjust the prices in a couple of months, or i hope anyway..

Yeah i was shocked at the claimed $39000 price at first, but that would be drive-away price. The prices in the link are before on-roads which are around $5000.

I am surprised to hear that the dealer is already showing the car. Thought the release was May.

He told me the Active is $25,000 on road and a Elite is $34,000, with the Premium matching the SR premiums price of $39,000 - including metallic paint too.

To be honest $39000 is a good deal for the Diesel Premium, the GD is $35000. Did they explain how much you actually get in the PD? Cause its ALOT.
Doncaster can't really set their own pricing, you can go on Hyundai Australia website and do a drive-away quote in 20sec, although the PD isn't in the calculator yet.

I say this as a fan of Hyundai, At this stage I think its overpriced. You get nothing more the what you get in a Mazda 3 Astina for $37,000 - And the Elite model needs to have the 1.4 t engine option added, because the step up from Active to Elite is too much. Hyundai is not stupid they will tune their range to accomodate buyers and sales, in the end thats all they want. But at this stage I would buy a GD Premium over the PD.

I'm ambivalent about car carpets so I didn't pay any attention to it.

dropped into the local dealer today to have a sticky at the new PD. They had 3 on the lot and two in the showroom. 3 active 1 diesel and one SR.
First impression, well to be honest a little disappointing, it's possible that I have gotten a little over excited about the new model and the styling has not blown me away.  It's not ugly at all, I do like the front end and the wheels are very nice.
The PDs sitting there amongst at the GDs I could not help think " boy Hyundai really did a good job on the styling of the GDs."
GD's styling certainly aggressive and the PD a bit meh. I'm sure the new PD will grow on me but maybe more of a reason to wait for the n, which I'm sure will have an aggressive look.

Nice production but doesn't really do much for me about launching the new model. 

I went into Motors Hyundai today to check out the PD. But they still don't have any! 

Got 5 different models coming and a launch event earmarked for 19th May (including a driving simulator) I might have to copy their software for ours!

Had a brief glimpse over a PD yesterday in the showroom at Rockingham but they had a rope all the way around it so you could only lean over and look through the window This is the second part to that vid but it's still lacking any information.
