Hard to know where to leave this. Apparently it isn't in the Manual.

I just cut and pasted a couple of bits from the Whirlpool Forums.

Good find Dazz!

Sounds like a pain though! Maybe not down under, but here I fold em out half the year every time I park to prevent em from freezing to the windsheild(and ruining the rubber).

We need someone to test that.

Someone with a PD maybe?

No idea who to ask :whistler:

I tested mine and it works. I first noticed I can't lift the wipers when I washed my car. Than I remembered I had the exact same system at my 2007 Octavia II. I applied it and worked. Than I've read about it in owners manual.

I was wondering about the wipers and lifting them from the position they're in when not in use.  It sounds like a similar situation I have with our VW Amarok (those bloody European designers).  It's bloody annoying.

Thanks for the heads up.

They chose this function as a safety reason, due to the fact that more a decade ago, many stole wiper aero blades because they were soooo easy to come off.

Oh really! Good thinking! Probably aerodynamics too, mounted below bonnet line.

I tried on mine and followed the manual and it didn't work either. Is there something I'm not doing right? This is what I did:

The car engine was not on before as it was parked for some time. So I got into the car and:
1. Turn key to accessories (one push).
2. Push up the wiper control to Mist and hold for more than 2 seconds.

Nothing happened.

I've done it a couple of times. I can never remember the sequence so I have to fiddle a bit, but it works.  :undecided:

I'm going out shortly so I'll try and remember to check what I did.

I tried again and this time it worked. The missing instructions? That you are to released the wiper arm after holding up for 2 seconds.  :)

You need to push the wiper stalk into mist position directly after switching off the ignition and hold for a couple of seconds. This is how it works on my Elite.

Yes, I realised that you can't do it from the switch-off engine. I tried a few times and it only worked when I turn on the engine and off it, and then hold the wiper control on mist for a few seconds. I also tested it by holding on to it without releasing it and apparently it also worked. I guess it's just one of the quirks of this car.

On my Elite you don't need to turn on the engine, just the ignition without starting the engine.

1st post for me, And I can confirm this works on the PD model,  Glad I now know this. I've been lifting and wiping for a couple of months now.

I bought a second hand i30 last week and just noticed some paint is scratched off the hood where the wiper would hit if you attempt to lift it.

Looks like the previous owner didn't RTFM  :fum:
