Say hi to the Sister in Law for me.

Anything from his most excellent Tug of War Album?

Yes, pretty impressive effort for a 75 y/o. Many of his counterparts are pushing up daisies by then. Not like he needs the money. Worth over 600 million apparently!

Enjoy it Trevor.   :goodjob:

Storm was over before the show.
And his light show, fireworks and sound effects were way more impressive than the storm.

I really needed a few days to “come down” from this experience in order to be able to write about it.

Way back, I remember an interview with the Beatles when they were at their peak. Someone asked how long they though the “Beatles Phenomenon” would last. Paul made a comment along the lines of,
Well, I really can’t see us jumping around on stage like this at the  age of 40”.

Paul is now 75 years old. And, while I’m not a regular live performance attendee, I cannot imagine anything that would better this.

From the opening “It’s Been a Hard Day’s Night” until the close, three hours later I lost myself in nostalgia. #3 and #5, “Can’t Buy Me Love” and “All My Loving” literally brought tears to my eyes and shivers up and down my spine.

There were so many highlights I can’t even remember them all but “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da” had pretty much every one of the 40,000 fans singing (screaming?) along. “Live and Let Die” was probably the loudest, complete with explosions around the stage and fireworks from the roof of Suncorp Stadium above the stage.

We walked to the stadium from my daughter's unit, through one of the most vicious storms to his SE Qld in some time, but the rain pretty much stopped before the show, although all those platinum and gold seats in the infield continued to cop showers most of the evening.

Suncorp Stadium (originally Lang Park) is probably the best rugby league stadium in the world with the capacity around 55,000. Obviously with the stage and other infrastructure, one end of the stadium was out of use but the whole infield was filled with seating. It is used for other shows (and recently the Jeff Horne fight) as well as soccer and rugby union. However, this night belonged to Sir Paul and his band. Two other guitarists, a keyboard player and an absolutely brilliant drummer.

My daughter has always been a Beatles fan but I’d have to say as much as 25 -30% of the people there were in the 15 to 40 age bracket. And they all knew all the words.
The band took a break about 75 minutes in, but Paul played on solo for two songs until they came back. His only break was 2 or 3 minutes before the encore of another 8 songs. Included here was “Yesterday” and “Mull of Kintyre”, complete with about 30 members of a pipe and drum band.

He only had Sydney and Auckland to go to finish his world tour yet he was never still, never out of breath between songs when he told stories about their history. A wonderful performer.
Oh. And he made the point that apart from his wife, 17 of his family members were in the audience. “All Aussies” as he said. I’m guessing they must also live in Qld or northern NSW or they’d have gone to the Sydney or Melbourne show.

If you’re getting the message my daughter and I enjoyed this, you’d be right.

Now, off to Star Wars VIII this Saturday night.  :goodjob:

I must say, without even seeing the show, when I read reports about his pretty much non stop 3 hour/ 40 song show, I was extremely impressed with his stamina for a 75 y/o.

Technology is getting pretty clever. The live performance you saw might have been delayed.  :snigger:
