Hi, Ive got a 2012 I30 and lately the clock on the stereo is not keeping time, and also displaying random times, such as 11:74 or 00:85 etc. which makes no sense at all hahaha.

Even after resetting the time, 1 minute later it will display something completely different and wrong.

What would be causing this, and what is the best fix?

:welcome: That's weird! Maybe it's "time" to update to the new model...

But seriously, in 9 years of the forum I can't recall that exact scenario. We have had a few losing or gaining a bit of time but not random times/numbers that I can recall. Be interesting to see what others think/remember.

Same here, never seen it, but that behaviour indicates a problem deep within the unit at the logic level. Short of some software reset/update (try the battery off 30 min hardware reset) I'd be replacing or upgrading your head unit.

Could it be heat related causing mayhem within the unit.

Does it do it no matter what the outside temperature is  or when car has been sitting in direct sunlight?
  • 1.4 Petrol Active I'm no expert, so please correct me if

My radio misbehaved, albeit not in that manner. A new car battery corrected its glitches. Just out of interest how good is the battery? Has it been slower to start?

Hi, Just to answer the questions related to my original post.

It does it in any heat, cold, hot, rainy, whatever, so I don't think that is an issue.

The Sound itself will sometimes stop from the radio as well, so it needs to be powered on and off again to make the sound work.

Battery is fine, starts great all the time, and I have already tried disconnecting battery for 30mins to reset everything and that had no effect.

Guess I'll do some shopping for a replacement unit.

Thanks for clarifying that. Yes, a replacement unit might be the go, with Android Auto would be nice!  :goodjob:
