Ive just bought a 2016 i30sr manual. The electric park brake does not automatically disengage as i drive off. The user manual states that it does. The service dealer at hyundai didnt know but ending up saying that it only automatically disengages on an automatic vehicle. Due to whats written in the manual and my own personal knowledge of EPB I believe that it should be automatically disengaging. Can anybody advise me re this? Thanks

Welcome Leon.

Sorry, I can't help you but hopefully someone who sees this can. I'll alert our Guru @cruiserfied ...

My understanding is that it releases when the accelerator is pressed, but not sure whether that's any different in a manual.

Just as a point of interest...my Calais V is an Auto with an Electric park brake which disengages automatically. However, it makes for a slightly "jerky" takeoff, so I have now trained myself to disengage it manually before I drive off....

I imagine you've been through it all now but,

Engine running, in gear, seatbelt on and take off as normal.

Auto's i can confirm will do this but there are so few manuals with EPB that i can't recall how it operates.

The clincher might have been the seatbelt!

I've got a feeling the autos disengage when put into D or R and all other conditions are met. There are no sensors in a manual to pick up in gear so it may be true about only in auto.

That's my suspicion, in a similar way to cruise control not working continuously across manual gears.

In the i40 I have found that it refuses to disengage if I have been lapse in applying the brake before take off.  If I hit the brake then the handbrake will disengage as normal.

Thanks for the replies. I took the vehicle to a second hyundai service workshop who advised me that hyundai australia were aware of the issue and issued a TSB /fix. This has been undertaken on my i30 and now all is sweet, the electronic handbrake automatically disengages when I put the car into gear and accelerate.....,
