Lenovo Tab2 A10-30 Quad Core. 10GB

As mentioned elsewhere, I have bought one of these to replace my 7” Samsung tablet.
Cost was $188 at Officeworks.
I went with this model because I found several excellent reports on it on the web. I really couldn’t find any serious faults.
Apparently the battery life is better than average and the sound and picture quality are very good. I can’t disagree with the latter after just a few days. The battery certainly seems to be performing well to date but let’s see after a few months’ use.
Setting up was easy and my Google account allowed me to download my more favoured apps from the Samsung. I have very few complaints about the Samsung but one was definitely the excess of pre-loaded apps which came with it. The Lenovo has considerably less.

Chrome is the default web browser which is fine. The only issue is that, because it has been “dumbed down” for Android use, it doesn’t offer the option of building “Folders” in “Bookmarks”. The basic included web browser with the Samsung can do this so it really shouldn’t be too hard. Anyway, I can live with it.

The “on/off” button on the Samsung is on the front of the frame and therefore easily accessible. The Lenovo is to the side and towards the back. Now this isn’t an issue in itself. BUT. If you add a folio case, it is, because the elastic straps which hold the tablet in place on the folder, partially cover it.

Knowing how clumsy I can be, a cover is essential. The one I got for the Samsung cost me $10 from K-Mart and is still in perfect condition. My local K-Mart however only had ipad folders on display. A trip to Big W (Woolworths) found a better range but they’re a lot more expensive these days. $39.00 was the cheapest option which would fit.
It is a good quality, Aussie designed folio. Gecko brand. Nice and solid and with a fold back, desktop stand option. There was only one on the rack.
But down below it was a markdown – to $20.00 because the packaging was damaged. Talking to the guy behind the counter he was telling me how people purposely damage packaging the ask for a “discount”. He took great delight in telling me how he loved to refuse by saying, “No. I SAW you rip the box”.
But, as he said, their loss was my gain.
So, I have the 10.1 tablet, safely ensconced in its own folio and fully set up. All good.
The only problem unresolved is that I can’t link my web provider based e-mail account. It keeps telling me, “unable to open link to web provider”. My gmail account works fine and both work fine on the Samsung and my phone. So I guess I’ll make a call to iinet sometime in the next few days.
All in all, an excellent value unit. A pleasure to use.

The battery seems to be living up to its reports.
Projecting out to 4 days life, using it about the same amount as the Samsung which is down to less than 12 hours.

I can't remember exactly but I think when new my Samsung was good for a bit less than 2 days on a charge.
For just $30 more, I've got a 10" tablet, quad core instead of a 7" dual core. Front and rear cameras instead of just rear..More memory.
Looking good.

I have the same Tablet, paid $196 at Good Guys about 9 months ago. Great unit that I only need to charge every 4/5 days.
if you find the cover is annoying check eBay as I got one for $14.88 and it fits perfect with unrestricted access to the On/Off  and Volume buttons

Picked one up for $166.60 from Officeworks via a ebay 15% off sale.

Spent most of the day mucking around with it, but seems good.

Just need a case now.

I got one from Big W. A bit heavy but I wanted one which guaranteed protection if I sit on it or something. Got it half price due to damaged packaging. Think the details may be further up this thread.

So, an update.
This unit hasn't been as Good as I'd like.
Pretty much since the beginning there's been a lag between keystrokes and action.
Sometimes there, sometimes not so much, but still noticeable. Also slow on FB particularly.
The day before yesterday i did a factory reset and reloaded all my apps and email settings as well as web favourites.
It's now brilliant.

Must have been something in the original set up.

Incidentally when my wife's W8.1 laptop gave us the shits enough to be replaced, I did something similar with it and it now runs very well.

I had become frustrated with the speed of mine, and didn't really want to reload all my apps (Cook books, what a tough bloke I am) so I did some googling and did this:

Has stopped lagging and killing apps and the internet speed is faster too.

Might be worth a go.

Me too. Although the 30 minutes or so I spent resetting mine and uploading a few extra apps seems to have done the trick.
