Dig deep guy's, sell the house...sell the wife :scared: :D it might be your last chance to buy some Aussie motoring history at the Shannons auction next month :link: Three Bathurst icons to go under the hammer at Shannons

If I had the cash there would be two big black strips going up my driveway with that Monaro sitting in the garage :Drive:

Oh yeah !!!
I agree,  the memories come flooding back just looking.
Back then when you had a stonking 6 or V8  that had a hunger for rear tyres,
you thought that  5 or 6 MPG was good  👍👍
I would gladly pay the tyre and fuel bills again.
Occasionally new set of rears would only last a week

The one in the middle please.

Though they are worth so much now, you can't really enjoy them......

That's the XW phase 11, it go for around $180-$200k, the XY phase 111 would be a beast to own, I think last one of those sold for about $500k :faint:

Yeah I test drove one when I was 19 or 20 y/o and working in the Bank.

I could afford the $4000, but not the $1000 a year insurance (which I guess in today's $$ would have been $6000 p/a + )

My uncle bought a HG GTS Monaro brand new in 1970 for $3500, spewing he never kept it :disapp: my mum always used to make fun of him as he wore the paint away in two years washing it daily :crazy1:
