What are your pet hates? I have several.

I hate the misuse of the word 'celebrity',there is absolutely nothing at all to celebrate regarding most of these non entities. :crazy3:

I hate the over use of the word 'absolutely'. So many people start almost every sentence with it,and it is frequently utter nonsence. For example,  are you going out tonight?, answer 'absolutely'.

No problem with any local accent, it's the glottal business that I don't like, together with the wivs and finks etc.

I also hate the amount of cooking programmes on British TVs,plus the amount of soap operas. It's not unusual to have a soap opera on at 7pm,followed by a different programme for half an hour then yet another episode of the same soap. British TVs producers are totally obsessed with soap operas, cooking and baking, and royalty. The coverage of Diane in the last few weeks has been way over the top.

'I would of' - instead of 'I would have' - for example - I would "of" sworn my grammar was good.

Using "To" instead of too (or even two)

People who call you "mate" when you have never met them before (or mutually dislike each other anyway)

People who put the word "like" constantly into sentences

People who use the word 'Pussies' instead of cats - I don't like cats but.......... :snigger:

I don't get too stressed about poor grammar or the English language being butchered. I think it might be because there are far worse things to stress about in the world these days.

Threats of world war 3, increasing levels of some chronic diseases, the world's weather going haywire, etc.. they all put things into perspective for me. :whistler:

Mate - in my case - dickhead might be a more appropriate calling...it is bigger than most, stands tall, has a shiny top surrounded by a fringe of grey hair and can command attention .................. :snigger:
