This is the best distance I've had from one tank of diesel in 186,000 kms of ownership.
I'm not sure why the difference because the driving was exactly the same as usual.
The trip computer was displaying 4.3 l/100 kms.

Dave does drive a large distance each year, so thanks to him (and people like him) I can keep my job!!
-
Yes.
Why didn't I think of that? :undecided:

Nice work Dave. :goodjob:

I am officially jealous.

I'm sorry but I can't remember what you're getting.
Is yours auto or manual, @cleid ?
-
5.1 is my best number so far on the auto Tourer. But much higher around town. :)

That is not a huge difference.
4.3 for a diesel manual hatch to 5.1 for a diesel auto wagon.
How many kms do you get out of a tank and what is the mix of metro/country driving?
I must say, that in my previous (FD) i30 diesel manual, 6.2 l/100 kms was more the norm and if I ever got it down into the mid fives I was very happy.
Since then, however, I have moved to a country area (and bought a GD) so I do more highway kays which helps. :)

On my road trip up to FNQ a few years back I got 1170km between fills....oh, and at that stage the low fuel light hadn't come on so I reckon there was at least another 120km left in the tank...Obvious though my FD has 3 litres more tank capacity compared to your GD... :undecided:

It's all city driving on the weekends, a lot of ridiculously short trips too since we've had a baby recently. TC is currently displaying 9.0!
The figure above was on a Sydney to Jindabyne trip, hoping to best it in an upcoming trip to Eden. :)

Filled up today, seems I've been unfairly badmouthing my Tourer's economy when I should be angry at the trip computer instead. Display says ~9L/100km, real consumption is 7.3L/100km... :head_butt:

Someone else may be able to help here, or confirm this, but I think that if you disconnect the battery for an hour or say and reconnect, it resets the trip computer which at the moment is probably averaging all of your trips (even the high consumption ones), rather than just your recent ones.
Am I correct in saying this?

Pretty sure I did this when I purchased the car in December. Sorry for hijacking your thread, 1150km/tank is something to aim for. :)

No, all good. :goodjob:
A weekend away with moderate highway speeds will do it.
I always brim my tank when refuelling too. If I was to stop at fisrt click, I'd lose 9 or 10 litres.
-
I'm getting 1100 per tank 09 crdi wagon manaul best I got was 1200 we chickened out before the fuel light. Great little car
-
best I got was 1250 on FD 66kW
Usually I don't fill to brim but thay was when I was testing. Also, at that tank I was driving as economical as I could.
My average is 5.5 l/100km in a year of keeping record (25 kkm distance). I guess if I never used AC it would be about 5.0 normal driving (90% outside of the town).
Recently I tried to get the lowest consumption and made a record for 500km driven - 3.95 l/100km but it was painful to drive that economical. ECU for that trip was showing 3.3 l/100km IIRC.

The thing that impresses/depresses me is the price you paid for diesel.
$1.119 = £0.66
We pay twice that.

That was at a cheap diesel outlet which I ordinarily don't use, but had to that day as I might not have made it to a Caltex or BP service station.
I just checked on Fuel Watch and the average price today across Perth for diesel is 120.6 cents per litre.
I would usually pay between 119.9 & 129.9.
-
Im getting 1450k in the i40.
Of course the tank is much bigger..... 5.4l/100 though :happydance: I did crack 4.9 on a trip home from the ACT.

Well, it seems Melbourne isn't REALLY that much worse than Adelaide for fuel economy. I had left the gauge on across several refills as an average and it had only come down to 5.4. :blubber:
BUT ... :D
After the last gauge reset, I saw myself clocking up decimals in the mid 4s, so only getting to 5L/100km in the very worst of traffic. Nice clean freeway runs are giving me 3.6 or so.
Firty is still frugal. :happydance:

Awww knock it off you diesel owners. :D

I filled up yesterday from my normal commute, 1143.7km, 56.29l = 4.9l/100km :D
