Title: How to connect a factory camera to the head unit
Post by: Filco on July 18, 2019, 06:53:54
Hi!

Few weeks ago I upgraded my i30 with Android 9 head unit. Honestly I don't even know the official name of it, but I saw it's quite popular here on the forum (see attached picture of the head unit). So far it works great, but I would like to tweak it a little bit more and connect the factory camera to it (the camera is now connected to the rear-view mirror).

I've searched the forum for some guides, but I couldn't really find some with the factory camera. My problem is that I have no idea what cable should be reconnected. There are seven cables which go to the mirror (let's call them a - brown, b - yellow, c - red, d - brown and yellow, e - black, f - blue, g - matte red, see attached pictures). Since it's auto-dimming I don't want to mess up the power to the mirror.

1. I guess I only need to reconnect video input, which is usually yellow (in this case it's 'b'), right?
2. The head unit came with many different cables which can be connected to it. Where would I connect this cable? To the yellow cinch connector?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!
