Any members have any experience with reparing a broken EPB Switch/lever/thingy?
It appears to be a small plastic lever that when pulled, activates the parking brake.
The lever has a pivot point - maybe just a couple of plastic lugs that I guess have broken off so no longer pivots & we need to hold lever in a certain way to activate switch. With a bit of pulling in a certain way, works eventually.
Car is currently in for a 8 year service so mentioned that EPB needed repairs.
They offered to get me a quote......
$500+ :crazy1: $260 for the part and the rest for 1.5+ hours labour as consol needs to be removed.
I think that switch lever could be easily fixed by drilling a couple of holes & putting a peice of wire through if can get switch assembly out of consol - just need to figure how to do it easily

Update:
Have found an original part on eBay for $58 so have ordered but need to come from S Korea - 2-4+ weeks in current situation.
Getting a rego check (due on 2nd July) whilst car in for service - just had a call as EPB switch has failed on a couple of occasions whilst tech was testing & now informed that it can't be passed for rego.
Funny that we have never parked car without EPB on since problem arose!!
Informed them to just forget rego check & I'll get a local workshop to do it - now they're not sure if that will be allowed :crazy1:

That's a bit of a pain Neville.. :undecided:

Do you have the eBay link? I'll look at the viability of 3D printing a new lever.

What S-Korea store ships spare parts? I've been waiting my order for several months. Koraps say that they can not ship orders due pandemic...

Hi Gents,
Looks like the consol will need to come out to get to switch module as it appears to be screwed from underneath.
eBay link EPB Link (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GENUINE-SWITCH-ASSY-EPB-93766A5000-for-HYUNDAI-I30-2012-15/202614547075?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)
Although seller has msg'd me suggesting part not compatible & could I supply part # from existing one - not really an option as not accesible with major work.

Ah, yep, no value for working out a replacement print.
Is the switch loose enough to come away? Probably not.
I'd have to get images of the complete lever from all angles to attempt to create a new one, and for that you would likely have to dismantle it. :Pout:

Thanks Gonz, It appears to screw from under consol so a major job to remove.
And to make things worse, they failed it on rego inspection which needs renewal on 2nd July - yep in 2 days.
eBay part I purchased is for a LHD model so no good for me - seller has offered to refund payment.
Am chasing wreckers now but not hopeful.
Looks like I'm going to need to buy a new one & get it fitted so can get car reg ASAP

Shame. I'd roll up my sleeves and temporarily replace it with a simple toggle switch just to get it passed.

FFS, Surely it can be put to be changed or make a note on the inspection report . State why it can't be changed.

I cant see why you are p@##sing about with some workshop.
DIY or get the kid next door to do it.
In only a morning:-
Pull the switch out, check contacts ( is it a one or two pole switch ?)
Take it to a Jaycar store (someone there should be able to check the above details ) buy one like in Gonz's post.
Connect wires.
Use a piece of plastic to mount switch. Use silicone so that it can be removed later.
Go and get rego.
