Title: i30 front shock absorber suggestions.
Post by: nikunj_1909 on July 01, 2020, 07:53:08
Hi Guys,
Just joined the club and this is my first post so please forgive any mistake I might make.
here's the issue I need help with.
I've got a 2013 Gd i30 1.6L Diesel Hatchback. its a SE model (also known as trophy by Hyundai).
So I purchased this car dealer demo in 2014 and since then the car has been running really good. But recently I had problems with ride handling. And the problem has narrowed down to Front shock Absorbers. Looking at e-bay and other parts seller they are not so expensive but the trouble is they never show actual image of the product. The e-bay's compatibility list has suggested two parts from Monroe which Are G7338 for Right axle and G7339 for Left axle. It would be really helpful if anyone can suggest these parts are correct and also if anyone have had previously get them replace with the same part numbers.
Asking because I didn't want to go through the pain of removing the strut and find that the Monroe parts are not correct fitment.

The Monroe part numbers appear correct with Repco https://www.repco.com.au/en/search/vehicles?q=vehicleid%3Arelevance%3Alevel3Category%3A1862918228 (https://www.repco.com.au/en/search/vehicles?q=vehicleid%3Arelevance%3Alevel3Category%3A1862918228)

Thanks Dazzler and CraigB.

Much appreciated your help with part numbers. The issue hasn't resolved as my i30 is a Production year 2013 and Model year 2014. After contacting Hyundai dealership they have suggested that some i30's made around 2013-2014 are infact GD2 and tuned differently and some parts are different from aftermarket ones. They also pointed out that the Monroe's are not going to fit as the front shock shaft diameter is about 2mm larger than originals also if I still go with the Monroe one's I might need to replace the entire shock mount and also the shorter swaybar link has to be fitted. They said the bearing and its rubber boot will fit exactly. Anyone in future ever thinking to change them please consider the Monroe one's have a little nip at the top where strut mount sits. so it would be a good idea to check them while side by side because some ebay sellers don't accept the parts back if they have been fitted and not correct.
Thanks again all.
