So far, so good  - only one speeding ticket - the missus got camera pinged - 130 in a 100 zone... :P .  Impressions - sits nicely on the road - can use the old Mini tactic of throttle feathering to tighten the nose in corners - we have a nice flowing windy back road by the river before we hit the main road.  A bit of thump/ bump from the low profiles, the tyres are very ordinary, so a change when due - Michelins probably. The current tyres are bloody noisey on chip seal. Like the AV system, the Hyundai sat nav doesn't have the roads we actually live on, but is fine in town.
Engine... not as much down low, as we would have thought,  but a good fat mid - range, ideal for passing the numerous truck/trailer combos on our main road into tow...

Hi all

I'm a newbie here, just got my active and am quite impressed with how featured it is for the base model. The only thing that has irked me so far is the colour difference between the daytime LED strip and the nighttime driving lights. I installed high temperature H7 halogens but they just don't cut it.

After reading through a few pages here and on other sites it seem that LED lights need a power adapter (i am guessing the 55W socket just won't do) and the space is very limited. Some people mentioned that the dust cap needs to be cut.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with swapping these out? Any advice would be appreciated.

Door Locking
I need to get the actuators on two of my doors replaced   :( been quoted $1200 by hyundai. I've looked on ebay and all the actuators are used condition. I'm wondering whether its worth taking a gamble on them? Or is there somewhere else i could source a new one for reasonable price? Thanks in advance

Door Locking
Hi all, we have a 2010 i30 with the dreaded grinding noise from the front passenger door lock, only when we lock it.
I believe it's a door lock actuator I need but hyundai want over 500 to fix it when they can get the part, apparently they are on back order with no idea of when they will get one in.
Can't find one anywhere, does anyone know somewhere who may have one in?
I have seen an actuator repair kit which basically looks like a single toothed wheel, but can't find any guides on if this will work or how to repair it? Many thanks for any help

Glow Plug
  Please help.

I have 2 glow plugs stuck in a Hyundai i30 1.6 crdi 2011. I have tried almost everything to get them out and I know now I have to remove the Head off the engine. Would someone be kind enough to provide me with a step-by-step guide as to how I can remove the head and what nuts require which torque settings? I am a complete novice so please feel free to treat me like a dummy and explain every little thing. Also, any additional tips that you think may help are most welcome.

Loving this forum already.

i30 in the news
They kind of hint that the Cerato GT is better value, but we've had feedback from a recent N-line buyer who tested them back to back that several things like the Automated cruise and the suspension tune are much better in the i30.

Door Handle (internal)
Hi all -
I needed to open up my Driver (RHS) door panelling etc - because a clip had broke that wind's the window up and down - glass had therefore fallen (not broken - thankfully) and I needed to replace -
All I needed was the clip but everyone tried to sell the the whole panel for $180 to $350 just for the parts - all I needed was a clip and wire - found a website that sells these components as a repair kit for $70 - 5minutes and its all fitted - go to replace the panel and therefore needed to put the door handle back on - but I'm having issues.
Essentially the door latch wont click into place - there is a latch inside (does this need to be retracted so I can slide the door latch on - then just push and click the barrel ...

Hi everyone,
Newby here seeking some help please.  We have a 2010 1.6l petrol manual i30 that we have owned from new and has served us faithfully and well.  However about 3 weeks ago it started stalling intermittently when stopped in neutral or with the clutch depressed.  We took it to the dealership mechanic who said we needed a new clutch (ouch!) which we accepted and got the work completed.  However, during the 2nd drive after getting the car back, the same problem arose.  We took it back again, but they can't replicate the problem.  The car will restart after it has stalled but the ESP light will come on, the revs will be right down and it doesn't drive right.  We stop the engine and restart it and all returns to normal.  We are no...
