I'm wanting to add some kind of additive to my manual gearbox. The oil has been recently changed by my mechanic which has made somewhat of a difference but it does still seem a little 'crunchy', not to much that it grinds but it isn't 'smooth'.

Was thinking of adding: :link: Smooth Shift Manual Gearbox and Diff Treatment - Nulon Products Australia

Is this easy to add? Can I do it via the engine bay? I've had a look at the workshop guides but it isn't clear where the gearbox filler plug is in an 09 FD SX Petrol.

Spark Plug
I have a new coil pack for my 09 SX Petrol. I’m wondering what tools would be ideal to remove the nuts holding it in.

I’ve tried using a socket wrench and a normal wrench but the nuts don’t budge.  It’s in a bit of an awkward position as well.

Have been down a few dead ends with this one.

Engine Cranks OK. Key symbol (in Car) on Dash illuminates so key is verified, Symbol goes off when Cranking.

Randomly the car will not start  as defined above. There are no obd2 codes present...

Pulled the dash apart looking for loose wires, none found.

When Battery is disconnected for an hour sometimes longer is required. Occasionally this trick does not work straight away and has to be left even longer. I suspect that pulsing the battery terminals by connecting and disconnecting quickly a few times gets it to start on the following attempt.

Any ideas.

Still trying to get a workshop manual or a circuit diagram for...

Wont Start
This problem started 2 days ago. I have checked the fuel pressure with my scantool and when the engine is running it's spot on target but drops quiet quickly to zero when you turn the engine off. Is this normal or is there a fuel leak from the regulator or injector. I intend to test the glow plugs in 2 days time along with a service.

Rear Struts
2012 1.6 crdi.

Hi again..
Now I've owned the i30 for 2 weeks I thought I'd ask about its strange rear end handling.

I noticed  the day I bought it that when you hit the slight bump on a bend the back end hops and skips around like a spring lamb.
Well it's not that bad but the rear end definitely moves around a bit.
I thought it was maybe either the 4 brand new unbranded tyres on 15" steel rims or maybe just the way the i30 suspension is set up.
Well I put 17" alloys on a few days ago and apart from being slightly firmer, the hopping sensation is identical.

I drive for a living and I've driven 100s of cars new and old, but I've never felt anything like this.  I wouldn't  say it feels...

Hi all,

Have a 2010 Diesel i30. Have read a number of posts over a number of years and some of them fit with some of my issue but not completely so thought I would ask! Note I am not a technical person so really looking at options to tell my mechanic who couldn't find a problem after a drive and a clutch inspection.

The issue - Inconsistently across a drive for the last few days the gear changes alter between normal and a bit stiff. It appears worse early in a drive, but sometimes its fine at the start and gets worse later. The stiffness I can live with, but the main issue is that occasionally, I can't change from 1 to 2. To fix, I simply pull over to a complete stop and then it works fine. I haven't yet tried going in...

i30 in the news
Just got an email from Hyundai introducing the new i30 SEDAN.

Apparently they've finally scrapped the Elantra name.

Due here later this year.

My drivers side high beam suddenly does not work. I replaced the bulb but it still doesn't work. The passenger side high beam works and regular driving lights work on both sides. Is there a fuse or relay i should check or has anyone Else experienced the same problem and have a solution?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

I just wanted to share something that happened to me yesterday. It shook me up quite a bit...

Was on my way home after taking my little girl to the beach for the day. Cruising along at 110 on the freeway when the battery warning light flashed up – thought it was a little odd considering I just replaced it last month. Nowhere safe to pull over at that stage so just kept driving. Was aiming for the servo about 15km away. About 10 mins later the dash warnings lit up like a Christmas tree. Then I noticed the power had gone out of the electrics, including the steering. The steering wheel went rigid and it felt like it seized up. It was quite a shocking moment when I felt like I was losing control of the car at that speed with my daug...

Oil Pump
Morning all,
This is my first post on the forum as I am fairly new to the i30 owners club. I bought my i30 last June and haven't had any problems with it at all until a week ago. The red oil pressure light flashed on and off intermittently as I got to work last Tuesday morning. I got the AA out and they checked over the car. They confirmed oil and water levels were fine, and that the engine was running without any strange noises so didn't think it was a pressure issue. They also connected it up to their iPad but didn't get any errors. They reset the warning light by hitting the start/stop button 3 times. The light continued coming on the next couple of days, but only on the way to work. I then did the same process as the AA to clear th...
