EGR Valve
Hello fellow i30 owners. I have a problem I canít seem to resolve with my car infrequently coughing, particularly in lower gears. Iíve replaced the fuel filter, all glow plugs plugs, a new set of injectors and now even my local Hyundai dealers are stumped - any ideas?

ABS & disks
This is the first vehicle I've owned with ABS/TCS and I absolutely hate it. Aside from the fact that it's incredibly annoying when it activates, it eliminates my ability to feel the road surface when braking or accelerating. Is there a way to disable this horrible system?

I've been driving for 40+ years in snow and ice and have never needed ABS/TCS, so please don't lecture me about the wonders of modern automotive electronics. I know how to handle these conditions and having a computer separate me from the road is not beneficial.

This is my first post here. I just purchased a 2012 plate i30 1.6 CRDi with around 55k miles on the clock. Sadly it immediately had to be fitted with a new clutch and fuel filter.. but that's been done and sorted now.

After using it for a proper commute I've noticed that I can't sit at 30mph in 4th gear without the engine juddering slightly. This is around 1,150/1,200 rpm. What I'm wondering is whether this is the sign of a potential issue or if it's just the gear ratios?

In my previous cars (a 2014 diesel 1-series and Toyota Aygo petrol) they'd happy sit in 4th at 30mph. Sure if I put my foot flat to the floor nothing would really happen unless I downshifted.

Any thoughts? After my initial...

Has anyone tried to successfully put an amp underneath the passangers seat?
Looks like it might be a bit tough with the plastic ducting and plastic ridges there.

Looking at putting a Focal iBUS 2.1 there.

Breaking stuff
How does one remove a 2012 i30 manual petrol motor? Up thru the bonnet opening or drop the lot out underneath the car?

Hi all,

New to the forum, happy to be here. With my 2012 GD now out of warranty I'm servicing it myself. I'm competent on the tools and am setting out to change the auto trans fluid.

I couldn't find instructions for the GD but found this for the Elantra which I'm guessing has the same box (all the fill and check points were the same): elantra 2011-2016 auto trans fluid change

Is this the same box as in the i30? Without the GDS diagnostics is there any way to know when the auto trans fluid temp is about 60 degrees? Lastly I've got Penrite LV to replace the factory fluid with, has anyone ...

Wont Start
Hi Folks,

Long time reader, first time poster.

I've recently noticed my 2011 1.6 CRDI taking longer to start under the following conditions:

- The car has remained off for 10+ hours (basically in the morning).
- The colder the temperature the longer the crank before it starts.
- Immediately after the engine starts, I can switch it off and it will start again very quickly (No warm up time!).
- No fault codes are showing from the ECU
- No warning lights show AFTER startup although the battery light does stay on during the crank.
- The crank does not slow down while I'm turning the key.
- Cycling the glow plugs doesn't help.
- The engine runs no problem once started.

My shine red UK specification 2009.5 model year 6 speed 1.6 u2 crdi 5 door hatchback now has 285,888 miles on the odometer which is about 200,000 miles more than average. I bought it new at the very end of 2009 with a delivery mileage of 8.4 and in very nearly 8 years have driven it for 282,503 miles (a brother accounting for the other 3,377 miles). During 43 trips to the European mainland I've clocked up 70,470 miles in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Andorra.
On the day of acquisition I drove 128 miles before filling the 53 litre tank with 56 litres of diesel. When fueling I try to fill to the brim and then zero the tripmeter. My meticulous records (I'm a qualified accountant) show a consumption of...
