Mine doesn't like reversing up hill either but I have done it.If I reverse up my driveway (which is a hill) I have to go at sufficient speed to be able to fully let the clutch pedal out and let it "drive" up until I get to the top, which isn't far.It does go quite quickly though at its lowest speed without riding the clutch.

I just select "R" and gently depress the throttle, and back it goes.
