Mine doesn't like reversing up hill either but I have done it.
If I reverse up my driveway (which is a hill) I have to go at sufficient speed to be able to fully let the clutch pedal out and let it "drive" up until I get to the top, which isn't far.
It does go quite quickly though at its lowest speed without riding the clutch.

Try letting it roll forward again and then catch it on the clutch in reverse, and you too can smell Bakelite

Only joking, sounds like it's probably not a problem as such with my car - just something it shouldn't be doing

Or the Mitsubishi "Starion" which was supposed to be named after a large male horse. :snigger:

Mate, it's just a funny story.
Makes great telling especially verbally.
No need to spoil a great story with facts.

Ive been guilty of abusing a brand new vauzhall astra this week. Clutch has been very smelly. However when I get ones with a couple of thousand on the clock you really have to go some to make them smell. They just have no torque and light flywheels so I think its their fault the way I drive them.

I just select "R" and gently depress the throttle, and back it goes.
