Always a happy way to start a night at work, noticing that you have blown a headlight as you leave the garage to go.

Anyway I have ordered some Phillips long life Ecovision bulbs from these blokes

http://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/philips-eco-vision-h7-car-headlight-bulbs

In line with my policy of googling any place that offers a discount for a coupon code if you enter RLKHQ1883 on checkout you get a 10% discount  :D brought it down to $23.54 with fee postage, which was much cheaper than Ebay! They reckon 5-7 days shipping.

Plenty of other globes there for those who want something brighter, but I was just looking for something that would last.

I will let you know how they go.

I clicked the "delete" link on my free sidebulbs, but their impressively clever system added them back in

Did you read the warranty conditions, Beerman?

http://www.powerbulbs.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=25

Like this bit

Do not turn on otherwise warranty void.

>:D

Yep,

If they blow, I'll have to buy another set anyway, so I'll have the packaging etc. I'll leave it 11 months, should another one blow, I'll send back the set.

Either the Phillips bulbs stop the problem, or I'll blow 2 in the next 12 months, only thing that can kill me is postage, but since they pay the return postage, I reckon I'll do ok.

Arrived yesterday. Put them in today.

in : 02/07/2013 @ 83984. Lets see how long these bad boys last.

Also put one of the free side light bulbs into play (who would have thought after testing fate so harshly that it would come back to bite me). Of course I didn't notice that the park light had gone until after I had put the battery back in and tested the lights  :Dunno:

Just whipping the headlights out to change bulbs is by far the best option, as Steve says about 7 -  8 mins is all it takes.

Lazy postman?

7-8 minutes to whip the headlight out? I couldn't see how to do it, and once something is broken it costs more to fix.

should have Googled it....

He still made hard work of it....

There is NO need to remove the fasteners across the top of the grill....
As for removing the coolant bottle...With the diesel it's actually the washer bottle which is in the road (the coolant tank is in a different location) and that's much harder to remove.

Much much easier to just whip the headlights out..... :goodjob:

I don't think I've ever seen that tutorial......  :undecided:

Btw, I pull the headlights right out and sit them on the bench.....much easier on the old back like that.  :goodjob:

It's a lot easier than he made out. You just have to have faith that you're not going to scratch your paintwork, which you won't.
